I think our education is junk

Why was my education so irrelevant and full of nonsense I didn't need. Is it normal I think it was crap?

Things I never learned in school:

How anything works.
How real politics work.
Real history.
How finance actually works.
How anyone figured anything out or invented anything.
How relationships work.
Where life began.
How babies are made.
How the body works.
How the brain works.
Why we typically work 8 hours, 5 days a week.

I basically didn't learn shit. I barely know how to write.

I got straight A's in advanced classes but I know next to nothing about the true nature of how the world works.

Is it normal to think my education was engineered to make me a working tax payer slave and that's it?

Is It Normal?
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • Go back to work and quit thinking for yourself. You have taxes to pay.

Ok, seriously. Education, even thru college, is heavy engineered to create followers. You’ve got to guide your own learning to think outside the box.

  • Welcome to the american dream! Over worked and underpaid. Well that's how the real world works i guess. I mean schools were totally not made for students to be forced to work assembly lines in factories. I mean that's why we are still doing the same shit since kindergarten we are still being taught to work at factories, i mean shit changed, but it still does the same stuff just taught differently

  • I'm in middle school and my school taught us many of those stuff you listed there. IF this is not sarcasm and the school truly did not teach those, these's something terribly wrong with the school.

  • I always thought it was just an unfair stereotype that the American education system is inferior. All jokes aside, some of that stuff you've listed there should definitely be on the curriculum. Where did you go to school?

  • You'd think teaching kids basic laws and human rights would be useful, but analysing abstract art is clearly of utmost importance.

    • I've always wondered why they don't teach morals and ethics in school.

  • Most of that is actually in sex education or Health class. Which I blame cheap schools and parents for. Exact reasons for divorce, STD, abortion, and teen pregnancy rates are high
