I think about this type of stuff...

So, how's life? Me? Well, I always ask myself these questions and fall into a deep thought.

Why am I alive?
What happens after death?
Will the world ever end?
If there is/are god/gods, are they protecting us?
Will we go separate ways based on religion during death?
Are the others in my life fake?
What would happen if I were a different person?
Does everyone have their own world to live in?

There are more, but you get the idea, right? So, do you do this, too?

Is It Normal?
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • Careful this usually leads to derealization. Don't philosophize too much about it. I've been doing that and now I have to deal with derealization/Depersonalization crap. But it's normal.

    • I think I was a kid the first time I dissociated like that. It was the early 70's, I was a little kid and we'd been watching Carl Sagan on PBS. The vastness of the universe always gets me. It can be kinda scary.

  • Wish more people would think like this, pretty much everyone i know is too focused in the moment.
maybe thats a good thing though

  • Normal.

  • No I don't really. I did a few years back for a few months trying to put some pieces together, but that is resolved and these questions no longer amaze me. I just don't see them as something that should be taking my time and energy, and while they may seem deep, they're kinda pointless. I prefer the more empirical; looking at languages, cultures, geography, wonder that I can actually explore.

  • I don't think about them a lot, because I'm confident in my answers. They're short, so take them with a grain of salt:

    1. I don't care, I'm here now.
    2. It won't happen until I'm dead, no use worrying about it.
    3. Yes. Nukes exist. Unless by "world", you mean "universe", then it's not likely.
    4. No. We don't need it, we don't deserve it.
    5. Maybe. That would be preferable, but who knows? See #2.
    6. No.
    7. Nothing. You would live the exact same life as whatever person you're thinking about.
    8. Literally? No. Figuratively? Yes.

  • I'll have a shot at this too:

    1. Are you sure you are alive?
    2. You will be reborn. Death as a finality is a product of the human mind.
    3. There are no ends or beginnings. Again, another construct.
    4. There are Gods but they are to busy waging war on each other to bother with, or notice, us.
    5. What happens during the process we call 'Death' will largely be dependent upon your mind at the time.
    6. No. they are as confused as you are.
    7. You would be asking these same questions, seeker.
    8. Yes we do all live in our own world. Largely due to perceptions, desires, dislikes, worries, etc., etc. You can never truly experience what someone else would experience in the same situation/circumstances. Similarities maybe. You can never BE someone else.

  • I think alot of that as well, and Ive come up with the following answers:

1: You are an act of opportunity and the product of Evolution.
2: Nothing. We disappear from existence, we are only memorized by what we leave behind on this planet.
3: Technically, no, but as we know it now: Yes.
4: Out of question: I am atheist
    5: Same.
6: Probably not. They are as much human as you, but if you never speak to them you'll never know.
7: You would lead a different life.
8: We all live in the same world(thats both ways), we just act/respond different to it.

  • I do the same. I think Energy has a point because I slipping into derealization each day. I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing though. Then again I don't know to what extent Energy is talking about.
