I retaliate when my cat does something

It's the first time I've owned a cat and I hate the stupid thing. I am a dog lover and I've taken care of dogs all my life and I'd never dream of hurting them, maybe because they don't hurt me. When my cat bites or scratches me, I push it or punch it (with force but obviously not like, FULL force) when I give it a bath, it turns into this crazy demon so I have to tie him up and people think that's already abuse? Is it abuse for real or is it just the softies calling it abuse? Obviously my cat has never been seriously injured and still gets my attention, plays with me and insists on sleeping beside me, so I'm confused. They say when you truly hurt a cat it becomes scared of you but that hasn't happened. People think hitting cats is abused though so my question is, is this normal or is this criminal abuse and will I be a serial killer?

Do you own one? Even the vet recommends bathing it at least twice a year.

No! Cats wash themselves pretty well.

Don't punch or push the cat. The cat acts like a demon because it is reacting to being scared as they do not like getting wet. I would suggest if you feel you must bathe the cat try a damp cloth with baby shampoo. It will help if they stink. Also try wearing the cat out with play. Sometimes cats just need to get energy out. Don't use your hands at play time. Try cat toys or string. It helps if you have cat tree or a window they like to look out of. To help with scratching I would suggest some nail covers. You can slip them over a cats nails and it keeps furniture from being scratched. You can find them online on amazon or at your local pet store. If you struggle with the cat, check out Jackson galaxy online just type his name in. He is a cat behaviorist. If and I say if all else fails, try a water bottle. Fill it with tap water and spray the cat when it bites or scratches. Hope it helps.

Cats are different than dogs.. Dogs and humans are pack animals so its only natural they get along so well.(mans best friend) So this means to learn to love a cat it takes more patience. You really need to take the time to learn and listen to the cat. Dogs just love you right away so theyre way easier to handle. Just know cats have claws and sharp teeth and it seems like the way you said it sleeps by you and is nice at times makes me feel that the cat is only playing rough. My cats do that all the time its natural. Cats are independent animals and this is why theyre sterotyped to be less loving then dogs. So in the end of all this the cat still loves you so just know that. Also, you dont give cats baths. Whether they love you or not theyll attack whatever is around to escape.. so only if its is 100 percent needed, then dont bathe them. And with the whole pushing and punching, imagine the cat as a small dog biting you etc. If your okay with treating the cat the way with a dog, go ahead. As long as tour not too rough with the animal its fine. Animals are smaller and weaker than us, dont get to the point of abuse over small things that are natural in cats. :) i hope this helped

Take the cat to a no kill animal shelter so the poor thing doesn't have to live with a terrible abusive person like you. Poor thing. And byw, cats dont need baths like dogs do.

Cats can trigger an anger in people! Get rid of it! And you can bath a cat! Their tongues are not that clean!

Why have a cat when you hate them? Get rid of it. Then you wouldn't have to worry if punching it was animal abuse or the like.

Then tell your husband about your violent tendencies to the cats shenanigans.
