I prefer low quality food

I don’t know if it’s just because I grew up poor but like 9 times out of 10 I’d much rather eat shitty processed food than high quality stuff. I’d eat burger king over a real gourmet burger, instant ramen over proper handmade soba, tinned tuna over tuna fillets.

The only exception to this I can think of is steak. Even bitches like me don’t enjoy flat irons lmao.

Same tbh. I think McDonalds is delicious and tastes way better than the higher quality fast food chains with more expensive burgers. People think thats weird as hell but I have cheap taste I suppose, not that thats a problem in my opinion...

Some things just have their own "flavor". My thing is the kfc gravy. I wish the Burger King in my town was better. In my hometown it's decent but the one here is awful, I don't even know how they're still in business.

My poor ass grew up on off-brand miracle whip lmao

I've had MacDonald once in my life and I didn't like it. But maybe you're right and this has something to do with what we used to eat in childhood. I had very healthy, good quality food as a child. We ate fish very often. The meat we had were from locals who gave their animals only grass. The eggs were from our hens. Everything was so tasteful.

So yes, this might affect our taste. I am not a fan of fast food even though I can enjoy a burger here and then. And I like KFC.

theres a huge difference between a mcdonalds burger and a competently made to order customized burger from a bar & grill

plus you can have a beer to wash the burger down

i like a nice medium rare burger with swiss cheese grilled onions & bacon with fried onion rings on the side and a nice porter

I think it's very normal for people to prefer the food they grew up with/are used to. I have friends who pretty much only eat processed convenience/fast foods, and don't like most home cooked meals or foods from nicer restaurants. As for me, there were always a few convenience foods I was used to and liked (jarred pasta sauces and salsa, grated parmesan in the can, boxed mac and cheese, fast food tacos, etc.) that I realized really don't taste that good to me anymore since I started making my own versions and grating cheese fresh off the block. I did grow up with a lot of home cooked foods as well though, so have always been more used to that.

Honestly, I'm the same. 21 an hour in New York isn't going to get a person like me far unless I budget. Plus it's what I was raised on and I've got zero problems eating it. XD

It's normal, from now on I'll do the same, eating low-quality food: Burger King (or Hungry Jack's), instant ramen, and canned tuna instead of the gourmet stuff. Furthermore I'll eat KFC fillet burgers, and fish & chips, and roadhouse barbeque crisps, and cheese puffs, nothing spicy hot, both of which are from the Parafield Plaza Supermarket. 😋

    • I actually really enjoy cooking! I used to cook for my parents a lot before I moved out. I really do think it’s just down to me growing up on cheap processed foods and my tastebuds adapting to that

Pretty much the same, however, I have figured out the why for me. It's the money!

I like you said was raised in a kind of low income family. But, we were a farming family so we ate pretty well, fresh beef, chicken, veggies, and potatoes. The budget to buy what we didn't raise/grow was pretty low.

I love and can tell the difference between junk food and good food. I just can't seem to spent 25e on one meal for me or even 20 or 30e on one home cooked meal for two. Food to me is a necessary evil. We must put fuel in our bodies to keep it running but the difference between spending $10 a day or $50 a day just doesn't make sense. Once a month, special occasion, yes, I can see that, but, it all comes down to money for me. 1000e or more a month to run through your body and put in the toilet, I just can't do it.

Yeah but some of the low quality food tastes like sad.

Its very unhealthy to eat all that. Even a gourmet burger isnt the best because it still has bread. I think of pasta and bread as kinda third world ppl food. If you are starving to death or poor eat wheat and all that shit but if you got money its much healthier to just eat meat and vegetables and occasionally fruit. Try to cut carbs down. Its actually ok to eat high fat CLEAN foods like meat if you are eating very little carbohydrates.
