I'm so sick of hearing about death

I have always hated and had a severe phobia of hearing about death. Yesterday, social media was inundated with posts about the death of Kobe Bryant. Literally every fucking page I follow posted about it including fan base pages, produce companies, and even the president!!! I scrolled and must have gone through 15 posts before I saw a story about something else. I have Catholic beliefs and try to follow through with them, but it usually goes out the window when death happens. My faith fades when I'm in a bad mood. To me death is always unacceptable. I always get pissed with these posts especially when I think it's not even news worthy. For example, a 100 year old veteran asks for 100 birthday cards, gets them and has his spotlight in the news. He dies, and they have to fucking report on it!!! He already had his news story, which was not depressing. The same thing happens with people who have cancer who get special treatment. Why report on every single person who has ever been in the news when they die?! These news reporters love to spotlight death and depress us. Since I have this phobia and have always struggled with my faith and accepting death, it's always extra hard on me. I wasn't even sure who Kobe Bryant was and had only heard the name a few times, but it was still depressing and made me pissed that it happened. Is it normal that I feel this way about death posts?

Quoting you: "and even the president!!!"

Kobe tweeted about "him" 2 years ago and refused to even mention his name.

"I wasn't even sure who Kobe Bryant was" --- Seriously, HOW OLD ARE YOU??? 12? Just read the news and get with it.

    • I'm 23, but I don't watch or know anything about basketball. All the deaths in this world are just one big outrage to me.

I replied to your comment and it wasn't what it says at the moment. Whether you edited or not, it still stands...

Wut??? Like, we all die. Even if you don't follow a sport you can still learn about who they were and what they mean in popular and world culture...

I'm the opposite. I fear having to LIVE with whatever consequences there may be that can come with a near death experience or suicide attempt. You can get brain damage just from a few minutes without oxygen. People that have attempted like had really attempted, to the point they need hospitalization, to attempt something so fatal to begin with, must surely have its physical consequences

Kobe Bryant was one of the best athletes ever.

I get sick of hearing negative shit on the news too but more or less about car wrecks and robberies and a baby accidentally getting launched out of a potato gun or whatevr. Its always a crazy dark story. Gets old.

Catholics are supposed to welcome death. It’s your last sacrament. Lol.
