I hate cats

The cats of my neighbor shit in my garden all the fucking time. I'm seriously considering poisoning the annoying little furballs. Cats also eat tons of birds, animals that I like very much. The owners should at least make their cats wear a collar with a bell or something, so the birds can hear them coming. Cats are also WAY more stupid than many (emotionally-driven) people think. Is it normal I hate cats?

It's totally normal to hate them, but please don't harm or kill them. There are plenty of nonlethal ways to discourage a cat from coming into your yard

Agreed. They are just animals doing what animals do, no need to be cruel to them.

It is normal to hate them. If you want to keep them out of your garden do what I normally do.

I usually get a repellent with ultrasonic waves that keep them away and sometimes I'll turn on the automatic water spray to keep them away.

It's all about finding out what cats hate but take my word for it do not feed them because it will encourage them to come back.

Isn't shit a good fertilizer, though? I knew people who sold their horses' shit as fertilizer and people actually bought it. 🤣 Not sure if carnivore shit is the same as herbivore, but I've always been under the assumption that shit in general is a fertilizer.

        • Well, duh, it's common knowledge that shit is good fertilizer...

So then maybe the cats are actually helping your garden? 🤣

It's the owner's fault for not watching their animals, not the cat's fault.

don't cats dig a hole before going to the toilet then cover it back up? that's what all my cats do

I'm Not going to vote, but You can hate cats without wanting to kill them. It is of course the neighbors responsibility to care for their pets. Have a chat with them.

I second this. No need to hurt or kill them. Have a talk with the neighbors about it. If they aren't reasonable, then there are non-lethal ways to keep cats off of your property (and no, not driving them somewhere else where they won't be able to return home, like some of the shitbags in here suggested).

Live trap and a car ride like dadnscal suggest. Problem solved.

My sister told me that her neighbor's cat bit her on the leg for no apparent reason.

You don't hate the cats; you hate the owners. The cats aren't the problem here. Everything you've said is an issue with the owners. The cat entering your garden is the owner's responsibility, and if you think the cat should wear a bell, that's up to you the humans.

I had the same problem and I bought an animal trap and put some tuna in it for a couple days without setting it so it gets used to coming here for food and then I set it and got it. I whisked it away to a park a couple miles away and let it go and we never saw it again. My neighbor asked me if I'd seen it and I said I had a couple blocks away and maybe somebody took it.
