I find taro bubble tea too sweet

Last time I drank it I enjoyed it at first, but then I couldn't finish it and almost threw up, so I gave the rest to my brother.
Now when I just think about Taro Bubble Tea I feel sick.
The thing is I ordered it with no sugar, but it was still sickly sweet. I'm starting to find that most bubble tea is very sweet or even sickly, even if I ordered no sugar. I used to be fine, I don't know what's happened to me. Maybe I grew up T.T. Anyone else finding this?

  • Most drinks with sugar are too sweet for me, but the thing that I find odd here is that you ordered it with no sugar and still found it too sweet.

Maybe they used artificial sweetener, because they thought that no one would want it simply with no sweetener?

Well taste buds change every 5-7 years, so perhaps you just no longer have a taste for it?

A quick Google resulted in a website saying that a 16 oz. Taro Bubble Tea contains around 280 calories. So the drink is about one-seventh of the daily recommended calorie intake for women, and one-ninth of the calories a man should be consuming.

Clearly, there's a helluva lot of sugar in the standard drink. I've never had the stuff, but I understand it's flavoured with syrups of some sort, and those are high in sugar. The tapioca balls are too.

About the only positive thing you can say about bubble tea is that they're generally lower-calorie than the ridiculously sugary frappuccinos sold by Starbucks and similar.

Tastes do change as you get older, and it's not uncommon for people to find that something they enjoyed as a child seems sickly-sweet when they try it again as an adult.

I've never had that tea, but I think all sweet tea or any tea with sugar or sweetener added is way too sweet. I like it unsweetened only, and maybe add a lemon to it.

I think I've only ever had bubble tea once, and I was not impressed.
