I don't really like chinese food that much

Most of the people I know love Chinese food, but I just can't really get into it. There have been maybe three dishes I've liked okay enough over the years, but I don't even care for those compared to other foods anymore. I've had it in more upscale restaurants, takeout, and buffets (the latter being the worst), and I just can't get into it. Just tastes like salt and sugar to me, with very little other flavors, and many times it's very bland without soy sauce, so just ends up tasting like that.

Anyone else like this, or am I just crazy?

Is It Normal?

  • Disagree. General Tso's chicken and kung pao chicken are amazing.

  • It's OK to not like Chinese food nothing wrong with that.

  • Normal. A lot of fast Chinese food is junk. They fill you up with tasteless noodles or rice and just tidbits of meat. We have 1 sitdown place here tgat is very good but kinda pricey. Just a little family place.

  • I always laugh when I see "poopoo platter" on the menu. Then I question the Chinese waiter about it and get her to explain it to me in her shitty accent. 😂

  • I've heard similar complaints from other people. For a lot of Chinese food I get the impression that all the flavor comes solely from whichever sweet/salty sauce is used

  • Mall chinese is the best. But so is Dim Sum, like soup dumplings.

  • What you’ve got to do is be at the right level of hungover then you will probably enjoy it. But too hungover and it will come straight back up. It’s a fine line

  • To me, it depends on the place. There's a local Chop Suey place near me that serves it up with just the right amounts of grease and sodium. It's a takeout place, but the food is on par with a sit-down restaurant.

On the other side, there's about four other Chinese places that are pretty much crap. Too salty, too little meat, I might as well just go to Panda Express.

You sound like you've had it from multiple places and you just don't enjoy it. No big deal, everyone has food they don't like.

  • Typical dumbass thinks Panda Express is real Chinese food.

    • It is chinese food if a chinaman invented it.

Panda Express is my favorite cheap food. For 7 dollars I get two full meals. The bejing beef is fire.

    • It has been multiple restaurants of all kinds, including some pretty expensive dine-in ones. Those were better, but I was still not a big fan.
