I don’t enjoy watching tv

It’s not something i brag about; it’s quite the opposite, actually. It seems like everyone around me has something to say or discuss about popular shows on Netflix, shows coming to an end, and shows that had a huge cliffhanger. But I’ve tried, and tried, and I just can’t get into a show I really like. The only show I can say I’ve thoroughly watched was “Dexter”, and that was a long time ago. I haven’t found a show I can sit through without constantly checking how much time there is left, or having a lingering feeling that it’s all a chore just so I don’t seem like I live under a rock. I’m pretty active on social media and I enjoy YouTube videos, I even like watching movies. But I just don’t understand how some people just binge watch shows on end, the same shows I can’t even sit through. Is this normal? Any recommendations on short attention span viewers like myself? Thanks

Your not the only one mate! I used to be all into sports and shit and now I don't watch any TV at all. I barely watch anything similar, unless pornhub counts....

The 'used to be all into it' part or the 'unless pornhub counts' part?

Maybe you havent found the right type of show yet? For me, binging is a way to escape the reality of adulthood. It sucks after the binge, but in the moment I focus on nothing but the show. Really get into the story. There arn’t too many shows I can binge as I find most to be lame or dumb, but there are some I thoroughly enjoyed.

The only live action tv series i really liked were the Office and Arrested Development (but even those got pretty boring in the later seasons / reboot). I rarely watch tv either

There are people who never watch TV. They're just not into it. Nothing wrong with that.

I'm one of them. In fact, I don't even have one.

Too many interrupting advertisers, not enough show.

So true. Sad but true. Wish advertising was limited but hell will freeze over sooner.

Never heard this before but then again some people don't like music either so I suppose it's similar to that. Not 'normal' but whatever floats your boat.

Me and you buddy, holy shit! Dexter is one of the only semi recent series I’ve seen. Whenever I meet somebody new and they talk about how much they can’t live without Netflix or whatever it’s so cringe to me and sort of a turn off. I get too bored and in my experience people who love tv are boring as shit. I never go to movie theaters because it’s too boring. It kind of sucks honestly because I feel like people wished I loved tv and would watch the same series with them and whatnot, but I just can’t get into it

I hate the PC crap on TV. They're always interjecting their opinions on things like facts. They dont let the viewer decide for themselves.

I feel the same. Yes, trying to sit through a show, even something I enjoy, feels like a chore.

A while back I borrowed some DVDs of shows and was pretty excited about watching them but they sat there for a couple months, getting renewed when needed because eventually I would watch. Never happened.

Don't worry about being part of some crowd who keeps up with the latest BS shown on TV. Of course there is no escaping the titles cause people talk about it.
You could pretend to know the show. Say something like "Umm yeah, I was sad when 50 shades of thrones ended, it was a real cliff hanger because that one actor did that one thing."

I feel like I'm bipolar with my tv watching, ill go 4 or 5 months not watching a thing, but once in a blue moon ill somehow find a series and go hard on it for like 3 days watching every episode.
Most of my screen time/ "watching" happens on youtube or ill listen to a lot of podcast.

I say its totally normal to have your distaste for tv ...it's probably a good thing so long as you fill that time with good things.

In and age of such saturation in things to watch sometimes it almost feels better to just drop out of it all. I mean for christ sakes if we all chose to watch everything that was really good or "worth" watching we could spend every waking moment of our lives watching and by the end of our lives you'd only scratch the surface of "good content" especially since so much is being produced all the time. I'd say living your own story out in the world rather than watching everyone else's is by far a better way to live life. then again nothing wrong with jumping couch side for a few afternoons here and there to go on vicarious journeys.

now when you connect it to attention span...i see a little problem there... you probably should actively try to exercise that ability as it has a way of leaking into all parts of are life.. conversation, learning.. ect ect.

also never worry about others opinion when regarding this type of thing, if people around you hold your tv watching as any kind of importance to how good of a friend you are ...i say they can go suck a dick and take a hike! hell.. tell'm to suck 2 dicks!

If you get the movies channels on broadcast TV there's some decent stuff on sometimes. Most of it is just telling you to buy things
