I do not want to work rather follow my passion. is it normal?

I left my job in april. now, maybe I have become lazy or don't know what but I do not want to work. I've been depressed too, last month now, that I have started recovering, I am looking for a part-time job that will pay my bills but will not look good on my resume. I am confused about what to do.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

The people who have lived through it are good judges of such thing.

It's very normal. A lot of modern jobs (modern meaning, post Industrial Revolution) are prone to burning you out and making you depressed. It's 100% normal to not want to work if you are burned-out or depressed, and that doesn't make you a lazy person, or a bad person, or a failure.

If you can afford to stop working for awhile without creating a burden on others, I would suggest doing that for a bit while you take the time to figure out what you really want to do and how you can make money from that. At the end of the day, everyone wants to work. Doing nothing all day every day for years on end is an even more sure recipe for depression than working a shitty job. The question is just what kinds of work and under what circumstances you'll find the work fulfilling. You need to find a job you can do everyday without finding it so draining that the rest of your life goes grey and fades away. When you're already burned-out and depressed that will be very hard, because the thought of doing anything is going to make you want to hide under the covers and go back to sleep. But if you find the right kind of work, it can motivate you to get out of bed every morning and greet the day with joy. Some people find that kind of work in really high-skilled scientific jobs, some find it doing janitorial work in public schools and some find it doing subsistence farming on a commune. Good luck.

Work is work, unless you're doing something you love.
That said, you dont get there working a 40 hour week.
Id be happy to retire and just do the things I enjoy.
    But, the reality is.
    Bills need to be paid.
So, we do what needs done.
Sure there are homeless out there with interesting hobbies and ideas.
I CHOOSE to not be one of them.
If you cant make your hobby pay the bills, keep working at the job that does.

I think it's just a matter of time and times changes.

I don't want to get into something just because I was told to do so..! Am thinking about applying for a teaching job which will be a full-time job. I will be earning 50-60% of what I use to earn. But I like teaching and will have much time to do what I wish to do as well.

Yeah but you should find a job that you are passionate about even if it doesn't have a high salary unless having lots of money is very important to you. Meanwhile you can take a part time job and study if you need an education for that job.

Better to find a job were it pays well and you get free time to write all you want.

Personally I disagree. I prefer to have a job that I look forward to everyday and which brings me joy, I have no need to be showering in money plus as a creative person like I am personally you can always find ways to make money on the side. Life can be quite hard so you should always do what brings you the most joy... But to some of course that is making as much money as possible...

Don't be a deadbeat. Your family and friends don't want to deal with that shit.

You good author have a condition that every lifeform that has a brain larger than an mandarin orange has...

Boredom. That shit will hit you hard if you do not have a pressing goal to work towards. Seriously if you dont want to be depressed and feel like shit, pick a goal or hobby and feed it like a tamagotchi with your time and resources. Dont have enough resources get a better job. This is how you slowly progress in life until we all die but at least you made progress with your hobbies and that progress with working for your hobbies greased the wheels of the economy for the next generation of hobbyists. The cycle goes on.

Long story short: get hobbies to wait out dying of natural causes.

Get a job to fuel said hobby well enough. I want to write my dream novel but I'm realistic and going to school for utilities because it's a easily sustainable for said novel writing.
