I didn’t go to the dentist for 7 years

I went to the dentist last week and when the dentist looked at her records and saw I hadn’t been since 2016 she seemed genuinely shocked. Turns out my teeth are fine, I resisted saying “See you in 7 years then.”

Do you ever leave it this long?

I've had big gaps in between dentist visits like that as well. I just never went unless I felt there might be a problem, and I ended up discovering a cavity last time, so I've been going more frequently to try to catch those things as early as possible. I've been putting off getting my wisdom teeth removed though, partially due to the fact that it's going to be expensive, and partially due to the fact that I'm terrified, lol.

    • It was mostly COVID and money that put me off. I’ll try not to leave it 7 years until next time.

Never waited that long but it is understandable with how expensive it is, and I guess if you have no issues with your teeth you just kind of forget to go.

Where I live now they pay a lot of attention to the gums. And they require a “deep cleaning” if you haven’t been in a long time. Found that out the hard way. My insurance wouldn’t pay for that kind but I had to get it done in order to get back on a regular cleaning schedule. So now I go every 6 mos so insurance will pay.🙄

If u quit eating carbs you'll never have to go to the dentist again. Look up videos of hunter gatherers they got perfect straight white teeth because they only eat hard foods. Agriculture fucked up the human jaw we werent evolved to eat soft sugary shit.

    • Good point, but a life without garlic bread is not one I’m prepared to live.

If your teeth are in good shape, there's no real reason to go.

I voted not normal, because you really should go to the dentist more often.

That said, you're hardly the only one. There are plenty of people who have not been to the dentist for a long time.

I see mine less than I should, but I definitely wouldn't wait that long. I actually have an appointment on Thursday to get a filling.

I hadn't been to the dentist probably for about that long, but then in the last few years I've had to go a good few times unfortunately.

I haven't seen a dentist in a while, and I'm worried, because I think a small filling has fallen out.

I am still on my streak, though I don't endorse it. I have dental insurance now and I should really go. My teeth aren't bad, just slightly crooked, but I'm sure the plaque is deep.

I just remember the time I went in, the dentist talked about my bleedng gums and publicly declared "he's got problems". I wish mandatory health visits like these were more pleasant, at least for the people that actually need to go.

    • This one wasn’t bad, just expensive. She spent a little too long looking at my soft palette though, I think she was looking for the blowjob bruising (not my preference).
