I bind unsafely though i know it's not good

I'm a closeted Trans* person and I bind (it's like covering a... feminine chest area if you didn't know) unsafely. No matter literally everyone I ask saying I shouldn't, I still do. I just feel like shit if I don't fix that area. I use tight sports bras, ribbons of material tightened, or even bandages (which people say are actually the worst). I just can't come out and I just can't not bind. What do I do? I haven't gotten hurt yet besides red marks and stuff (I even bind probably more time then I should but again I just can't help feeling this way) so I'm not too worried about it but my online friend is.

stop (I don't know if I can) 17
keep doing it 0

I really think you should stop wearing it so much, I don't have a binder because I'm not transgender but I do know that can be extremely harmful to wear it too much. I understand it's hard to stop, but you should really try. Good luck on transitioning by the way :)

I would highly recommend that you stop, although I know you aren't sure if you can. If you have a friend with their own debit card/online shopping account/a place they can have something shipped for you, I would recommend you maybe ask them if they'd order you a binder and then you pay them back. Until then, please only stick to wearing sports bras if you can. Although, if you keep binding, please be safe about it. Don't bind for too long, remember to stretch, cough, and breathe deeply regularly while binding. Best of luck to you!

you should get a binder from gc2b if you can, or look for giveaways online. i got my first binder a while ago and they're really good and pretty comfortable to be in. trust me it's 100x better than binding with bandages, i don't know how you can stand it, i couldn't even wear bandages long enough to go on a walk, it was hot, sweaty, really painful, i could hardly breathe right. you really should stop bandaging and try for a gc2b if you can. half binders are 33$ and tanks are 35$. there's codes online you can look up for discounts too. please be safer when binding, it's really not fun. i know the dysphoria is horrible but being dysphoric for a while is probably better than 1) fucking up your chances of getting top surgery in the future 2) being in constant pain from unsafe binding or 3) breaking a rib and having to heal from that. imagine breaking a rib from the bandaging, how would you explain why you're injured to your guardians on the way to the hospital? it's not gonna be fun i promise

    • Yeah. I've been worried that I might hurt myself by accident and then have to explain it. I could probably have enough money to buy one it's just that I would have to ship it to my godfather's house (in my neighborhood they steal packages) and that means my parents will probably ask what it is. I might be able to say it's something else but idk if he'd open it to see if it was mine or something else. Not only that but I'd have to use a credit card and I don't have one. Which means I'd have to use my parent's or my older brother's.

You can also but visa or master card gift cards. They are also accepted on amazon just like a regular credit/debit card.

i can't remember if the billing is discreet or not (i'd check but i used my friend's paypal account because i was impatient), but if you have any cash you an go to the store and buy a giftcard and buy it like that i'm pretty sure.

you can say the half binder is just a sports bra, and the full is just a tank top or i dunno a full tank sports bra or something? ("extra support" i dunno man,) (if you're for any reason forced to put on the tank and show it off or something, which would be weird but i don't know how extreme your living conditions are)

if they make you open it and everything in front of them. there's a little paper that comes inside that says it's from gc2b and to enjoy your binder (+ some safety tips), but again if you're forced to open it and take it out in front of someone just be careful when opening it. the packaging itself is discreet, so you won't have to worry about any labels on the outside of it.

if you have any irl friends, you could ship it to their house and visit of course, pack a bag to spend the night and repack with the binder on the way back or something.

by the way if/when you go to order the binder, measure as best you can! string & ruler works fine. if your shoulder width is a bigger size than your bust measurement, go for the shoulders. don't try to completely guess and don't go a size down. be safe man, try not to hurt urself anymore

        • Thanks for the advise. You've been a big help. I appreciate it. I think the gift card idea is actually a really good one. I might actually have a chance of this working out.

DIY Binding methods can be potentially life threatening. Amazon also has a variety of chest binders. Additionally, do not wear it for more than 8-10 hours a day. Measure yourself so you get an accurate fit. Or use a good sports or compression bra. Good luck to you!
