I am getting irritated by my best friend!

We have been friends for years! When guys (total strangers) ask about me, she immediately informs them that I am engaged and getting married soon. "I must eliminate all my competitors!" When guys come and chat me up, she will stand beside me, introduce herself and starts flirting so-not-subtly..arghhhh...

She wants things done her way and when it's not, she gives comments like the other party is being conservative, jealous of her, old-fashioned etc.

She is always telling me how many guys are going after her and how many guys have checked her out and how she is going to play "hard-to-get" when these are guys she met at the pubs for like one night??? She's reading too much into things and she hallucinates about guys checking her out 'coz frankly, she's not pretty at all! I am not being mean but she just needs to know it! gosh!

I am all pent up and so vexed but I'm really wondering whether this is normal and I am supposed to smile and follow along and not burst her bobble since I'm her bestie? How do I tell her that those guys are just out for a one-night stand and are not really interested in her???

wow...sounds complicated... well first off she is like soo jel that you are engaged. second she probably is bummed cus she has no "man" of her own and she is probably just wanting to look at the bright sides of being singal so she is trying to rub in your face that its way better being singal.third if she is doing this, she is not being much of a friend. soo the best thing for you to do is tell her what is going on. don't hesitate to tell her just because she is your "bestie" tell her off if you have to cus she isnt actting like much of a bestie...

    • Yeah I kind of agree with this. You need to talk straight up because just saying nothing is leaving you with a big load of negative feelings that just keep getting added to.

Try to be reasonable, mention a few things & what you want her to do differently that she can change. Don't dump everything on her. You'll feel better for having DEALT with her on a few doable matters.

After that DEAL with her as issues come up. Don't let it build up.

So whatever her annoying behaviours, that you consider her your Bestie says she is worth caring about. And you have to take some responsibility for not caring enough to deal with her when she is a wee bit annoying.
