I’m sorry but there needs to be less women in certain jobs

I said what I said. Noticed I didn’t say they should be “out of the work place making babies.” So calm down or this post is probably about you.

So I work as maintenance technician in a school district, I started as a custodian and worked my up. With the exception of two ladies out of the dozens I’ve worked with they were incredibly lazy.

Lately I’m annoyed with the new custodial/macitence lady. She took the job since it was step up with better pay but she knows nothing. I have to help her daily, and my boss makes me because “he feels bad and thinks she can learn.” She doesn’t keep up with her cleaning, the school looks gross. We had a guy before her who didn’t know the job (but he knew it better than her.) Nobody was sent to help him and was demoted back to a custodian. Her? This has been going on for months.

She bitches about her pains, her family life, or whatever. She was caught having her young children clean her restrooms on overtime (which for her is like $35 an hour.) Some guy did it and he was fired. Her? Just a warning.

The ladies I’ve worked with either as a custodian or macitence just suck: they do their job the laziest way possible, they get the men to take over certain tasks when they already have enough to work on, they bitch about everything.

But Joann and Stephanie? They were workers.

Your system sounds incredibly incompetent, especially if you’re flying through workers like that.
Nothing here shows anything to do with gender, you invented an odd excuse.

It's interesting how men will find a situation that is completely in a man's control (his boss) and find a way to blame women.

This isn't "female privilege". It's the infantilization of women and treating us like we are children. That's *sexism*.

This wouldn't be an issue if he held all his employees to the same standard, but he thinks the female employee needs extra help essentially, because of the mere fact she is female.

But men like to hate women so it's always our fault.

I think for jobs like police officer orf firefighter it makes sense due to the strength differentials, but for custodial work I can't see just the person being a woman hampering their ability in the job you laid out. Maybe she's just lazy?

    • Custodial work does require fairly heavy lifting, such as moving furniture out the room during summer cleaning, heavy trash removal, shoveling, and waxing.

With the exception of the one lady, the overall theme was the harder work goes to the men. Which is fine since we could handle it, but then they bitch about the little work they chose to do.

I watch the YouTube channel policeactivity and it shows all the police shootings and 99 times out of 100 the police women are a liability when things turn violent. They arent built for it.

Heres one example but its almost every video ive seen

Finally a man cop comes to save the day, kicks the suspect in the face and handcuffs him. But not before tbe female cop accidentally shoots the suspects mother.

You can’t condemn a whole gender because of 1 derelict person. I’m male and truthfully am glad there’s more females in the workforce. They bring a softness and humanity. There’s just too much testosterone with all men in charge.

    • You probably do all their work.

I’m retired, fool. So you don’t know what you’re talking about. Anyone ever tell you you’re a closed minded, condescending person?

Women smell less, that's the reason there should be more women, so the stink doesn't mess up with my process of working.

    • Men stink because they’re working.

Which means both would smell if they worked.

Maybe they should hire those that can keep up with their jobs and know what they're doing

    • Just saying it happens to be a certain group of people that happen to have 2 X chromosomes that get away with this shit. A guy would do the same thing would have been fired.

Then maybe it's not women who are the issue, but the people who hire them and treat them differently because of their sex. Your boss is infantilizing your female coworker, which is a form of sexism. That's a problem *HE* is causing, not her.

In my experience male custodians suck compared to female custodians. What do you think a maid is, and why they are traditionally female? A big part of that job is keeping the home clean.

When i used to load trailers out of every 20 ppl they'd probably hire 1 woman because theyre "equal opportunity employers" and 99% of them didnt last a month. My job was to lift the 70lb-165lb boxes into the back of trailers all night and the loaders were to drag them into the back of the trailer. Women loaders could rarely be strong enough to drag them back. There was about 1 in 100 women who were absolute beasts that could, they were usually farm girls. I ended up actually getting in trouble because these women would ask me if Id jump in the trailer and drag it back for them and I'd explain to them how women should not work this job and they should put them in the bag packing department.

Okay, so the worker is incompetent and annoying, what does that have to do with women who actually do their jobs? If it was a male employee, I feel like you wouldn't have anything to say abt it. Literally anyone can be a bad worker, not just women.

I think the great challenge for all of us is not taking our limited personal experience and forming a wider world view from it

Because you have bad experiences with TWO women in your job, that means you think ALL women are like that? Go figure.

Terrible way to phrase the thread (this wasn't really about "certain jobs", just "my job", but you get more clicks this way so I'm not going to discourage it). This also sounds like more of a management problem than a women-in-my-area-are-lazy problem. They should treat people more equally. If it's an instant dismissal for one person, it should be the same for the other. What did your boss "feel bad" about anyway?

I really don't give two craps about who's doing whatever job, I only care about whether they can do it. That's what interviews and screens are for. Lower-level jobs, especially (at least the ones I've worked), go out of their way to monitor and micromanage people, so I'm pretty sure they catch BS pretty fast. If they aren't doing anything about it, that's completely on management.

  • I agree. My boss is a male who lets the women get away this behavior.

I think men have definitely behaved the same. But maybe your company is getting tax exemptions for having more diverse employees. It’s totally a thing.

But on a real note, if I’m stuck in a burning building, I want a man to come pick my ass up and get me out quick. Women just aren’t suited for it. Just me.

So, what you are saying is women SHOULDLN'T have cleaning jobs? Those jobs are traditionally women's. In fact, I've never seen a man doing such a job honestly...

    • All I’m saying is that when working a job that requires lots of physical work women almost always don’t put in any effort.

Custodial isn’t just cleaning: you’re required to move furniture, shovel snow, fix lights, lift heavy trash, etc. Most women just got the men to do that.

Don’t apply for a job then make others do it.

I had the opposite experience in administration jobs. Male employees (and bosses) being completely useless and female employees having to do their work for them. Dudes who worked part time and had no other jobs taking naps when they were supposed to be working. Dudes who just opened a company leaving all the responsibility on their 2 underpaid female employees, who had to figure out what to do with whatever little information they were given while the "entrepreneurs" went out to drink and celebrate. Not to mention how overworked one of guy's wife was, and she wasn't even formally employed there. I hope they bankrupted.

At the end of the day I think it all boils down to incompetence, lenient managers, negligent bosses, and people not being fit for certain jobs irrespective of gender.

People mentioned female cops, and I do think they're at a disadvantage when confronting male criminals, specially if they're alone or if men outnumber them. I think female cops should mostly take care of female criminals and less dangerous male criminals, and female victims who may feel safer in the presence of a female officer.
That being said, statistically it's very likely that a lot of male cops also suck at their jobs, but people don't make YouTube comps about it to show how "men shouldn't be in the police".

Unrelated, but I had a male construction worker say that his female colleagues did a much better job than his male colleagues, because they paid more attention to detail.
