How many trans people really "need" to be called by their desired pronouns

I see a lot on media about trans people getting offended when someone refuses to call them by their preferred pronouns. But how many trans people actually feel the need to have other people refer to them how they want?
Has anyone watched any Jordan Peterson videos? I found that he makes a lot of sense.

Would you like it if someone insisted on calling you something you had specifically told them you had a problem with?

Does it cost you anything to call them by their preferred pronoun?

Now, if we're talking someone you don't know, and you misgender them through not knowing and it's a genuine mistake and they chuck a hissy fit and such, they're a dickhead, for sure. But if they just ask you to, why wouldn't you?

We're ok with people having preferred nicknames...we'd show more remorse accidentally calling a male dog "she"...but people wanna get all riled up if someone born one gender transitions and wants people to support them...

Yeah. Thanks to your wannabe mate and his 5mil alts for that little change...as with most of the shit changes. Hah. He always has been firmly up Udi's arse...and somehow it's now an infinity cycle of up each others? I don't even know how that's possible...

You're allowed two thumbs up and two thumbs up per user, per day. So FUCK YOU.

        Geniuses.

Lol! I assume youre referring to me but As you know the lazy 'fixes' was not my intent, funny how much anti-trolling features were put in place just because of my millions of accounts though. At least im not the one who got rid of profile pics.

Oh I figured the infinity cycle thing was referring to constantly being personally removed, no one else here seems to have that problem as far as I can tell and besides, they (management) get along with all the other trolls here.

I never got the purpose of "likes, thumbs up" and all that. IS there any real purpose other than for corporations to know what kind of ads to spam the user with?

Makes just as much sense as everything else here.

I think the men who refuse to use a TG's preferred pronouns, they are the same men who act like they are being emasculated if someone mistakes them for a woman OR if someone insultingly calls them "ladies".

While I would argue that us TG tend to get misgendered or called by an unpreferred name, such as our old ones, I also know we are not the only ones it happens to. Like calling someone "Micheal" when he has mentioned several times he likes to be called "Mike" or just whatever.

Why does all this happen? Because people are dumb assholes.

One piece of advice I would have for all transgenders - never mention your old name unless it is for legal reasons. In other words, a "need to know" situation.

    • I'm pretty sure a small minority of men would react the way you described. Especially in today's society filled with soy boys. Even so, it's still perfectly reasonable to be upset if you were mistaken for the opposite sex. I'm a girl, if I were mistaken for a man I'd be upset, internally.

And, a nickname is completely different from pronouns.

So it should be respected when people insult you and disrespect you, gotcha

It's called respect. I'm sure you'd start getting annoyed at someone who you've corrected multiple times of your gender and they insisted on calling you the opposite; or even calling you a wrong name when you've told them more than once how to pronounce your name.

    • Again, a trans person should also respect the other person for not wanting to refer to them by their pronouns.

So they should respect a person who is insisting and purposely being rude towards them? So if I called you a name by which you didn't like being called and I ignored you and continued calling you that name, you should respect my ability to personally keep insulting you?

Then again, a trans person can also prefer not to be referred to at all by those who refuse to respect their request...

For some trans people, it can cause dysphoria to be referred to as their birth name/pronouns while others just don't care too much. It's best to just refer to everyone as their preferred pronoun, it's not taking much out of you typically.

Does this have anything to do with your immediate reality, or did someone from the internet tell you to worry about it?

    • Why can't I be interested in topics outside of my immediate reality?

Being interested in sensationalism and opinionated youtube vloggers is generally a waste of time and can be mentally damaging especially since you seem to be pretty young and thus easily swayed. You should put your mind to something more useful, like solving real-world problems rather than ruminating over made-up ones.

As annoying as it is to deal with those who get offended by everyfuckingthing, it really isn't that difficult to make a minimum effort to appease and not offend people. I've never met anyone that wanted to be referred to by some weird pronoun...and i've been to the city, like...more than 4 times, but if i was met with such a request i would just get on with my life. It really isn't a big deal. I see much more complaining about trans people online than i ever see trans people causing a scene about this pronoun business, but is it really that hard to change a few words? Who cares...

My old coworker would make a huge scene over something like that while I was just like your making a bigger deal of this than needs be

The best ways to deal with being called the wrong pronoun for us is to politely correct them.
But yeah we have experience in this sort of thing while outsiders are pretty clueless.

Jordan Peterson is successful because he appeals to the dark side of human nature, just like other high-profile people who are currently doing very well for themselves.

If you want to buy into his brand of BS, that's your choice. I wish you well in trying to cope with a world that's changing whether you like it or not.

If you'd like a more nuanced and thorough critique of Peterson's facile philosophy, read this:

    https://www.psychologytoday.com/gb/blog/hot-thought/201802/jordan-peterson-s-flimsy-philosophy-life

The TLDR of that piece are the final lines:

"If you go for Christian mythology, narrow-minded individualism, obscure metaphysics, and existentialist angst, then Jordan Peterson is the philosopher for you. But if you prefer evidence and reason, look elsewhere."

Hey, you should respect me trans people, even though I think you're all filthy sinners who are burning in hell and are not the gender you know you are and you're all faking it for attention even though trans people are treated like shit!

I completely agree, what they were born as is what they should be called. If they're offended they can fuck off.

I believe that we have much more important things to do so just pay them 10$ to fuck off if they're offended.
