How is death part of life?

Is it normal to say "it's just a part of life" when consoling a friend, over a death.
My neighbor died (67), in his apartment, the landlord was all tore up about it,.. I hugged her and said "it's just a part of life, it really is just a part of life",.. I never know what to say when consoling someone over a death?

Is It Normal?

  • Because it is in fact part of life.

  • Better than saying "hes in hell now"

  • Remove 'just' and it's totally fine

  • It's something to say. Saying it's natural is comforting. It's completely normal to die.

  • Just a "sorry" and a hug, with a question of is there anything I can do for you?...

    Works very well...

  • Part of life is watching others die when their time comes.

  • They were the right words, just the wrong time. 3 hrs. after.

  • Cause everybody will die. unless someone invents a way to upload your mind to a computer, then that makes it "outages is part of life". let's not get into the whole is that still you? part.

  • In order to die, you must have lived first.

  • On consolation, we say, I'm for God and I'm for him.

  • I always say "sorry for your loss" or "I'm here if you need to talk or anything." Death is in fact part of life because it'll happen to all of us at some point.

  • I refrain from saying anything from someone who's mourning.

  • That comment is far from consoling! If you can't think of anything genuinely supportive to say, just stay away from grieving people or you'll just make them feel worse.

  • Yes, it's normal. Sometimes death leaves us at a loss for words. Someone I care about recently lost their son in a tragic accident and all I could do was offer my condolences, despite wanting badly to be able to somehow make the situation better or go away completely (though unfortunately, that isn't possible).

It's a part of life because all of us have experiences with it throughout our lives, then it eventually marks the end of our own.

  • Death is natural but sometimes unexpected.
