How does it feel to have shaved legs?

Since I am a guy, and thus have never shaved my legs in my entire life, I recently wondered, for some reason, how having shaved legs feel like, compared to hairy ones? A friend I know shaved his legs just for the hell of it, and he claims it feels really weird at first, but oddly comfy. What is your take on it?

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

If you want to feel a real difference, before you shave them put on a pair of pantyhose, then shave and then put the pantyhose back on. That is a good indicater of how it feels. They seem to heighten the feelings on your legs. I had to shave part of mine while in the Navy during my first trip across the equator. The Shellback initiation.

Freshly shaved legs are like silk.

I haven't shaved in years because I use other hair removal methods. I hate stubble and shaving rash. But this means I have to exfoliate a lot, and I have to say that no exfoliation products get your legs quite a soft and smooth as shaving.

There's only one way to find out how it feels to you.

If you're curious about this, the only serious question is why you haven't done it already. Not all that long ago, guys who shaved their body hair were considered very weird. But these days, guys keeping their torso and back hairless has become as normal as women keeping their genitals bare. (I'm sure both are fashions that show how influential porn is, but I'll avoid going into a rant about that and why it is that guys choose to aim for an androgynous look by removing one of the secondary sexual characteristics of male humans.) I don't see how a guy shaving his legs is any different.

If you want to do it, do it.

  • It feels like your skin is made of silk. You realize the point of exfoliating. And when you rub your shaved legs together... it's like heaven

The first day you save you legs it feels great but the next day they feel prickly and uncomfortable.
I’ve only ever done it a couple of times, honestly I just prefer hairy legs.

I shave my legs sometimes, but unfortunately I can't shave my thighs without them breaking out in spots (my forelegs are alright though). I think it's called chicken skin. It's cripplingly painful and itchy, so I can't shave them half as much as I'd like to. And when I do shave them, I purposely shave them on a Friday so that I can spend the weekend indoors where I don't have to move around too much. It takes about a week for the spots/itchiness to disappear completely, and then I shave my forelegs to match (although my thighs aren't completely smooth by that point unfortunately, the hair has grown back a small bit).

So watch out for that if you try shaving your thighs. Maybe just try shaving a small strip first to test it rather than the whole leg.

The more you shave them the less they break out. I have that issue with my armpits if I dont trim them for a while when I do its super painful. And thats literally just cutting the hair. It turns red and gets real sensitive. But I started buzzing them often and it doesn't do it anymore.

Oh ok, well atm I wouldn't be able to shave them any sooner than a week after the previous time, or I'd just be cutting into the spots. But I might try shaving them as soon as I can next time, and then keep it up after that. Thanks :)

Have you tried exfoliating and moisturising? There are products specifically to help prevent the razor rash.

Yeah I heard about exfoliating after the first time shaving, I do that now alright. The first time I shaved without exfoliating though I was in agony, I could barely move. I was worried I'd have to go to the doctor. But I looked it up then and found out what it was and that I need to exfoliate. My understanding of exfoliating is that it basically means to scrub. So I scrub the shit out of my thighs now until they're red raw before shaving, so that I don't experience anywhere near the pain I felt that first time. It's still moderately painful now when I shave them, even with that vigorous scrubbing, but it's manageable. Still it doesn't prevent it completely and the spots still last a week unfortunately. Is that what exfoliating is though, am I doing it right do you think?

Oh no that sounds painful :(

For an easy, cheap exfoliating scrub, mix olive oil and sugar or salt and use it to scrub your skin...not raw, though. Or you can use coffee grinds, too. They smell good.

Try shaving with the hair growth...doesn't last as long but might be less irritating for your skin.

That sounds like a good idea, I might try sugar or salt next time alright, it might provide more friction. Thanks!

Yeah that could help, but I don't think it'd be worth the time spent shaving if it wouldn't last that long tbh. I have been thinking of buying one of those home laser hair removal devices though, so I might try that.

Please be more gentle though...I feel so bad for you, that scrubbing must hurt :(

If you want longer lasting results, you could try waxing. At home lasers are gonna be less effective than clinic lasers, but from what I hear, they do work.

My sister has asked me to feel her legs after shaving a few times. I think it would feel pretty good.
