How do you drink your vodka?

Just left for college and storebrand vodka offers the best cost to drunkness ratio. I’ve only ever tried the classics, aka straight vodka and vodka and coke, so i’m looking to expand the variety of shit i’m gonna be drinking for the next couple years.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • Vodka and coke is just disgusting sounding. And a rare order for sure, at least where I’m from. I do vodka soda tall with a splash of whatever juice is available. I buy svedka for my house. But Nikolai is a common house vodka that’s very good quality for the price.

Also pinnacle wins over grey goose in blind tasting.

    • For reference, vodka and coke (as well as Cuba Libres) are really common amongst college/univerity aged adults. Coke is one of the more popular modern mixers...for some reason.

      • I’m a bartender in the US I’ve been doing it for years. Vodka and coke specifically isn’t one I see often. And when someone has ordered it I’m like “are you sure?” Lol.

      • It’s mainly because it’s the most popular soda. If you’re looking for a mixer you’re gonna grab the most popular thing, even if it tastes pretty bad

    • It’s pretty common where I’m from - coke is the go to mixer for most spirits. I do admit it doesn’t taste amazing though lol, rum and coke is much better.

Would you say any juice is better than the others? Or are they all on the same level?

  • I don't drink alcohol. But people who drink vodka in my country most likely go for Absolut.

  • Vodka and coke

  • Sometimes we put it with kombucha for something different. There’s a particular flavour, rose lemonade, that it’s really good with. Otherwise we use passion fruit flavoured mineral water.

  • Interesting choice of vodka and Coke as a “classic.” When I think simple and well-known vodka cocktails, I think vodka and OJ (screwdriver), vodka-cranberry and vodka-Red Bull.

Either way, I think you get more bang for your buck with pure grain alcohol than vodka.

    • It’s either a UK thing or a family thing. Any other UK IIN users i would love to hear your opinion.

But I love a vodka cranberry, I’d say it’s probably my favourite combination. God, what a beautiful drink.

      • would you divulge your secret ingredients?

ive always been partial to spicy v8 plus the traditional ingredients plus cardomom & celery salt

whaddya think of a hot & dirty vodka martini?

i think if youve had a couplea bloodys its a great way to continue the same flavor but without all the bulk

        • I remember the first time someone asked me to make that and I was mind blown. So brilliant I require so much in a bloody. But mostly, it needs to be a full shot in a SHORT glass. I can’t handle all that mix! I’d be full with no room for breakie!

Celery salt mixed with old bay as a rim is a must.

Are you sure you don’t need an extra hand? I’ve got a lot of kids but I’m good with a dingo.

            gone with the plague unfortunately

id walk in and shed say 'you want a hot & dirty?' and id say sure and afterwards fix me a martini

anyhow id always have a platea spaghetti & antonios sublime meatballs and id want red wine with it but id always feel like a tool with a wine glass so shed pour it in a highball for me

            • I’d pour wine into a solo cup before I poured it in a high ball. Nonetheless, that was thoughtful of them.

The chef at my wine bar called spaghetti something else with a b that I won’t pretend to be able to spell. But I always referred to it as spaghetti just to annoy him.

              Bouglenanse??? Something like that.

  • Screwdrivers(vodka and o.j.) are good but if you want to savor the Russian way, chill it in the fridge(not frozen that's a myth) and follow a shot of it up with caviar or beef tartare on a cracker.
