Homeless keep trying break in. how do i deter them?

So I live downtown in a rich city. I auctully really poor myself but I got housing through an arragement. However a lot of homeless and crazy people chill downtown. Recently people keep trying break into the house and its really annoying. I mean I have 0 qualms against stabbing someone but like I would not have to be woken up every night since some idiot decided check if the doors was unlocked. Its FUCKING irritating.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

Homeless people cannot cross a line of salt, so put salt around your perimiter.

    Shooting them tends to work.

    • I mean that's the obvious solution but of course humans do not believe in consequences and think everyone deserves to live. When in reality if someone does a punishable crime and is punished we should not have mercy or feel any pity. As it was simply karma correcting a mistake. If people can not behave they suffer. Its that simple. Law however would punish me for harming intruders so trying to find more... None lethal deterents.

We have beware of dog signs on every side of the house.

Cover the front of the house with cardboard, make it look like it's just a really big box.

Or, open the door set up as many bunk beds in the front room and share your advantage of having a place to sleep.

I would recommend making sure the front room is secure from the rest of the house.

Would it be possible for you to put up some outdoor lighting? It wouldn't make sure it never happens again, but most people are deterred from doing shady stuff when they're well-lit.

Solar powered, infrared activated LED outdoor lights don't cost much these days. My experience is that most of them work reasonably well even if they're not in direct sunlight during the whole day. Installation is simply a matter of getting yourself up high enough that the light is out of reach of the scumbags, and putting in a screw or two. If you're not allowed to put screws into outside walls or the construction of the walls makes that difficult, some of the lights weigh so little that you could probably get away with covering the back of the light with double-sided tape, cleaning the wall and slapping it up.

if you can afford it try putting some security around the place like cameras and put up a big sign saying something like beware of dog or guard dog on the property or something. if you have the space i'd also suggest getting a large dog with a guarding instinct such as a german shepherd or rottweiler, they also look pretty intimidating and deters criminals from wanting to break into a house if they have a large intimidating dog snarling and barking at them. (bonus if you can afford protection/bite training for it)

    • I am a more scary creature than anything that could break into this house. I will not have any mercy. I just behave becuase I don't want to go to prison. It is an annoyance. People are worthless cattle but apperently were not allowed to harm these cows.

Even a 90 pound crackhead can kill you in your sleep with a knife or a gun

        • That is a possiblity but also this is why I keep getting woken up. Since these idiots keep trying to get in the window and doors and I hear it. I kind of waiting to stab someone but also thats a hassle. I don't want to have to clean the mess and hide the corpse.

Im assuming you're in the UK or somewhere with shitty gun laws. Use a crossbow on them if they step foot in there. Then when theyre dead put one of your kitchen knives in their hand or somethib

Ive heard the self defense laws are terrible there.

In my state you have no obligation to flee. If you can prove someone was an imminent threat to your life or your family you can kill them. Just them being in your house with your door kicked in would be enough to legally kill them. But you cant shoot them in the back.
Its not like this in all states tho. California has bad self defense laws.

Electrify your doorknobs at night like in home alone & stake planks of wood filled with nails under your windows so if they crawl through your windows they'll stab their feet.

Yes, electrified doorknobs are effective. When inebriates get a shock they wet their pants and walk away in confusion. They'll remember to stay away for a month or two. This video shows how to do it.
