Have you ever heard of strict parents that allowed weed?

I mean parents who are strict around childrens use of technology for purposes of excessively playing video games and it being their number one priority, but considered weed to be more of a benign issue, and it's really a trivial thing since most parents are more antagonistic towards substance mis-use over video games themselves, but do you get any of those stories related to 'weed but no video games or technology'

Any parent that allows their kid to have weed is a child abuser. They are raising their kids to be crack addicts that beat pregnant women.

I’d probably say that video games/ internet use is equally dangerous to smoking weed at a young age. Only bc technology is constantly accessible. Whereas I remember struggling to find weed as a kid and that wasn’t even till I was 14. Nowadays my 5 year old is already playing Minecraft.

There really are no positives to kids using technology unless you plan to teach them coding. It’s terrible for brain development. Eye development. Attention span. The list goes on. Not to mention kids lack of awareness when it comes to safety (most parents completely disregard the dangers for the convenience of not having to care for their kids).

As far as weed goes. It’s legal in my state. They sell it at things called “pop ups”. My bf gets it “delivered. Lol. We had it growing as it’s also legal to grow up to 4 plants per adult. It’s crushed the street dealing concept completely. So that would actually make it harder for kids to find at the ripe age of 14. I do think that excessive use of anything at a young age is hurtful. If I was to find out one of my kids was smoking, it would depend on their grades and maturity on how I handled it.

I guess I think technology is worse than weed for kids. 😂😂

I can understand why you pinpointed in your view why weed may be less harmful than using technology, since you may smoke a small amount and go on about your life, while use of technology such as gaming and other things may make 12 hours in a row go by as you're deeply intrigued and consumed by computer software or a video game that immerses you and the longer you play, the more you become engaged, and the harder it is to back off. But again, it really is dependant on context, smoking weed may have negligible consequences for most people, but there are many that react with adverse reaction such as tactile and kinesthetic hallucinations, the spins, spatial percetion changes and the passage of time, however i never said it's bad for me either , speaking as a person who has a history of long term psychosis, and cannabis itself was never a trigger for it, ironically, as studies like to link each other on quite frequent basis, and again, these studies never made a direct relationship between the two.

It is a subjective experience however with marijuana, a person may do so socially, and continue on with social interaction as means to lubricate or enhance the experiences but for other people it may be a different, less pleasant experience as variety in strains and growing conditions produce different effects for each people. I assume my parents and myself at the end of it all would prefer occupying the mind the more legal ways, either way as marijuana is being progressively decriminalized over here in israel so it's not much of an issue. 2024 may however likely follow your states suit as the rest of countries.

I can't say I have. The kids in my school always had to hide their weed from their parents. Even the ones with more lenient rules had to hide that sort of thing. Weed was, and still is from my understanding, taboo in Arkansas.

It is still penalized, so the more hidden it is under all circumstances, the better, as we can't really fight off a law by being obvious about it, as the furnace of flames will grow larger and imprison larger amount of people. but at times, when someone protests for a change, they put their lives at stakes for a change, just like we did here in Israel where any possession and use was previously more strictly and harshly penalized. it still isn't totally legal here in israel.

There are also incredibly strict parents who allow THC use in their homes, not because they view it as comparatively minor to other issues but, because they know from their own life experiences that if kids _really_ want to do drugs, they're _going_ to do them, and if they _can't_ do them at home they're _going_ to do them somewhere else, spend more time in drug houses while being exposed to more drugs and potential crimes, and likely catch several charges as easy targets for bored cops with nothing productive to do when the kids inevitably opt to do things they're smart enough to know aren't a good idea simply because they have _nowhere_ better than a parking lot, closed park, or shady adult's house to do the drugs they're going to do one way or the other because that part of their will has developed.

The reasoning is that the majority of people try THC one way or another and the majority don't become habitual users in turn. The idea is to first wait for this to prove untrue for their particular child before considering other measures, as giving a safe environment to (to a degree) experiment in minimizes their exposure time to crime and potentially unsafe environments and also minimizes the chance of them damaging their futures by catching stupid charges or you having to essentially pay to make them go away (not that hard with youth drug offenses if you can afford it).

There's the additional possibility that reducing the "forbidden" allure of it will increase their odds of seeing it as a phase and moving on.

If it doesn't seem to be working or outright backfires, the pros and cons of more direct intervention have to be considered by the parent(s).

It should also be said that these types of parents don't encourage the experimentation and might even be strict about who they hang out with prior to this. It's just that when they know for certain that drugs are being done, they make it clear that they're fucking stupid if they don't do them inside the obvious penal and literal safety of the house and that they won't be punished for this.

The most vulnerable are people with life hardships, includig societal and general, since i've thought of an alternative that is not necessarily organically consumable escape, it definitely made me obsess over weed and anyway most of times it caused me adverse unpleasant reactions of the spins and intense feelings of dissociation and panic, which of course, based on these bad experiences i've had recurring flashbacks , involving rapid heart rate, cold flashes, and general feeling of uneasiness such as unable being to tell where my limbs are in space and how far they are, which here it is difficult to estimate desirable experiences when quality control is out of proportion in many countries, even where it's decriminalized and in dutch coffeeshops. CBD/THC balanaced strains may be more of an ideal option but i'm not opted for it anymore as it is pointless to re-experience dysphoria again, which is however, not worth all these only for 1 euphoria i've experienced in my entire life time from cannabis.

It sounds like the parents are trying to teach their kids how to have a healthy relationship with things that easily become unhealthy.

My boyfriend's parents were strict but they allowed weed. My boyfriend never touched the stuff. His sister on the other hand did. She did not turn out so well. Hell, I've never met a person in real life who actually became productive on weed. Everyone just got relaxed so much that they didn't want to work or do anything.

As andrew tate stated that he'd prefer a drug that made him a super human instead of something hurting his ambition and motivation. yes, it definitely is like that, aside from paranoia, it makes me slow, experience avolition and general lack of energy feeling in which i can't even sit straight on a chair and stare into a void, it always makes me want to lay down due to effects. so yeah, i quit weed, didn't contribute to any improved mood or anything of sort.

Times are changing, mostly for the worst but that aside the general public's view of weed has shifted pretty drastically. Never heard of it but wouldn't be surprised.
