They just passed a law requiring an id to look at pornhub this year. It's the only motherfucking state doing this in the whole damn country. I'm 26, live here, and I'm pissed. Fuck em'!!! I also hate Louisiana's climate. I've had an on and off cold since after Christmas. It only snows decently once in a decade. I'm tired of all this shit. The lawmakers can piss off and go to hell. We also need a statewide cooldown.

        Honestly, I don't care about people who enjoy looking at pornography. Pornography is gross. This new law is no skin off my back, and I honestly would support it if I had to choose sides.

          The websites already ask if you are 18 before entering. Unless you are paying for a service I dont see any reason to have identification used on the internet.

              I'm calling BS if it's for the children. I dont use vpns there no way in hell I'd use my actual I'd to verify if I want to see porn. Simply ridiculous.

    I dont support the law but i wish there was a way to stop kids from having access to pornography online. The problem I have with IDing ppl who log in is it invades your privacy. Pornhub and the government knows who you are and every porn video you look at (VPN is useless if you give your ID and log in). It could also get hacked like Ashley Madison did years ago which lead to suicides. Someone could hack it and post everyones porn history.

    Unpopular opinion (which I didn't think would be unpopular given this website, but apparently everyone here is a hardcore conservative all of a sudden): Watching porn is fine, requiring people to show ID to view it is a clear invasion of privacy, and parents should either use the readily and easily available parental controls available on every device to protect their own children, or don't give their children internet access.

    Get out of Louisiana. Especially if even the weather is bothering you.

    I don't have respect for any laws (except the big 3: murder (including other animals), rape, (which means forcing or coercing an UNWILLING PARTICIPANT into sexual activity, nothing more, nothing less), and theft/damaging people's property. I don't base my morality on the law, because it's constructed by so-called authority figures, many laws make NO sense whatsoever, and it does not favour me and stops me from being happy.

    You're absolutely right!!! All the other laws are utter trash and are actually morally wrong. I hope all these "lawmakers" get what's coming to them!!! An unjust law is not really a law and should not be followed against your will.

    The majority we most commonly know like drug prohibition , especially of alternative hazardous nature like Marijuana don't, even though it has a set of it's own downsides, but prohibition doesn't solve the issue as the law is intended to. And things like having to drink low quality in Utah and not doing so will result in repercussion but come on, at least be it high quality and buttery, and exceptions for the lactose intolerant and anaphylactics who can easily die.

    I went to college in Louisiana, and I loved it there! There's nothing special, or worth saving about pornography, and if people don't want to show their identification then they're obviously ashamed so then they shouldn't look at it. My motto is don't do anything you'd be ashamed for people to find out about. Now I just love Louisiana even more! ☺️❤️🐊

    The fact that it might lead to online censorship is not a bug, but a feature to a certain type of conservative; they don't care if censorship happens, so long as they're the ones that get to determine what's allowable. Most likely, this will affect queers and other "sexual deviants" that Christians and other assorted bigots tend to despise for one reason or another. Ultimately, this will prove to be yet another way for spiritual hall-monitors to meddle in others' business under the lie of "protecting our children." Energy that should be spent investigating religious institutions and other organizations that abuse their authority in order to maintain sexual relationships with minors will thus be redirected to some other entity, allowing the former to continue their abuse of minors unabated. It is not for nothing that the religious are always so dedicated in their crusades against things which typically prove to be, at best, harmless.

        From what I have seen, you are the one who brings up fucking children the most often.

        And it still is wrong to have sex with children. Like I said before, you will end up in prison, and it's not going to be fun, especially since you're likely to be housed with women who may have children themselves if you aren't isolated because of your crime and mental health condition. Pedophiles aren't popular in prisons.

        Attempts to further ban pornography and the consumption thereof has less to do with conservatives wanting to earnestly protect children from viewing unrealistic depictions of sex at a vulnerable age (considering conservatives efforts to prevent banning child marriage here in the states, one can surmise with minimal cognitive effort that protecting children is not at all on their radar) and more to do, I would assume, with ongoing efforts to label the existence of transgender and other gender nonconforming individuals as "pornographic," and therefore not to exist within whatever distance of children conservatives find necessary.

            That's the biggest load of bullshit I've read all week and it ain't even begun yet. What even is your definition of conservative? They sure as hell aren't monks, and when it comes to porn consumption, they're the group that typically reduces entire categories of human into "fetishes." The south is pretty loaded with conservatives, and not surprisingly, interracial, cuck, and transgender porn are all popular here - not because conservatives are accepting of any of that, but because the taboos that play on their fears provide titillation.

            A conservative, as I would define it, is any such person who wishes to maintain the existence unjust hierarchies, either because they believe (as did Hobbes) that such hierarchies are necessary to keep humanity's darker impulses in check, or because they are comfortable where they are in the pecking order and wish to maintain it, either through ideological justification or violence. 'Conservatism' refers simply to a nebulous set of flimsy justifications that serve to provide the notion that there is anything at all just about a society that allows 'natural aristocracies' to exist between people, typically based on arbitrary matters of birth (race, sex, ability, nationality, etc).

            Businesses that you have deemed exploitative, such as pornography and sex work would not exist without the gross inequalities and patriarchal rule that conservatives seek to maintain - there is thus no contradiction in someone calling himself a 'conservative' and wanting to view pornography. Your definition of conservative is a blatant "no true Scotsman" and though you might find people who suggest that it would be undesirable for a conservative to watch porn, few would insist that such a thing itself disqualifies one from using the label - conservative politicians are always enacting policies that that advance homophobic or prolife agendas, despite the number of them that have been caught with office boys or getting abortions for their mistresses.

            Pornography and sex work as business models are not without their problems, thought I do not believe that all of these problems are unique to them; people across the world are coerced into doing things that they would rather not, with several chocolate companies presently pretending to care about girlbosses now that their use of child slave labor has been uncovered. This is not to say that it is acceptable for people to be trafficked into the business of porn or prostitution, but I believe that the reason why people make such a big deal over porn and sex work being degrading is because they are blinded by outdated Christian moralism and the belief that women are somehow "stained" or "tainted" by being employed in such fields. "All labor has dignity" as they say (except for pigs).

            (as an aside: are you saying that amateurs shouldn't be allowed to make porn? I often enjoy this kind the most.)

            In closing, what do you deem "pornography?" At one point of time, Joyce's "Ulysses" was banned from the United States because it was deemed as such. "Pornography," doesn't just consist of professional sex workers getting railed on camera, but can also consist of literature and, if my representative in had his say in it, "sexual education." Should some of these Christ-addled prudes have their way in it, much classical art would find itself branded as such, and any such thing that stepped outside the bounds of heterosexuality would likely be definitionally included if conservatives could stretch it that far.
