Food addiction in america?

Why arent people in charge doing something about obesity in america like forcing fast food places to reduce their portions or something? Hospitals in america are replacing expensive equipment to cater to the obese. I suspect the answer will be capitalism which i agree with but its so morally facked. Anyways thats my rant.

Is It Normal?

  • Here's what I know about this:

Food addiction comes around when there's addictive ingredients therefore the person wanting more and that causing obesity. Only people can stop obesity it just takes a little incentive to do so.

      • It's also worse when people incl. the fat acceptance advocating obesity essentially lying to obese people to do what they do and when we call them out for advocating obesity we get named "fatphobic" ( which by the way does not exist ). What is more incriminating is that they don't want to fix their eating disorders, which most have BED.

  • Yes, let's just have the government regulate every single thing that can harm anyone. Knives? Can't have those; you could stab someone with them. Food? Can't have that; you can overeat. Bamboo? Can't grow that; you can smack someone over the head with it. Trees? Can't have those; if they die and fall down, they might hurt someone. Water? Can't have that; you can drown people with it.

    • We could at least try to make the food healthier

      • Sure, but if the government were to do that, that would set a horrendous precedent. That is the job of the consumers consuming more healthily and the producers producing more healthily. If the government tried to do something about it, it would not end well. If they decided to regulate food, that tells us that they can regulate anything, no matter how important it is for us to live, leading to excessive government regulation of nearly every aspect of everyone's lives.

    • I think thats a bit much. Its just a classic american excuse for being overweight so why not eliminate the problem?

      • For the same reason you can't eliminate the cause of stabbings, drownings, or tree limbs falling on people's heads.

        • Or shootings to a better extent. People think banning guns will magically solve the innate human drive to kill eachother over stupid shit.

        • And what reason is that?

  • You are responsible for your own health, stop blaming others.
