Drinking to deal with chronic pain

So I have a problem. I kind of always a bit drunk but due to the fact I can function while drunk nobody notices. Recently I learned I have stomach ulcers and can not have anything which might make the ulcer worse. Now my painful migraines are coming back and I been drinking because Aspirin doesn't always work for my headaches and sometimes they get so severe I'll pass out and vomit. There was an incident where I got stuck at work and was drooling and on the verge of blacking out. I went to the doctor and the tests are normal aside from my white blood cell count that keeps coming up low and my blood pressure which is always super high. What would I do?

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

You need the right medical doctors to assist you. The Ulcer can be healed, and the migraines likely dealt with by other means.

Get off meds and alcohol, meditate and learn to live with the pain.

        • Okay, so I guess you don't work. Some of us are not that lucky. Some of us have to go to work.

You will get hole in your stomach if you keep this up. Take PPIs(omeprazole, pantoprazole) to heal the ulcer first.

Try a whole food plant based diet. Your digestive tract has damage and the only way to truly fix it is by eliminating processed foods and animal products, and fostering a healthy gut bacterium. You need to feed the good bacteria and kill off the bad, and that means eating vegetables, beans, rice and fermented foods. Get rid of sugar, processed food, meat, dairy and eggs. Your problems will disappear.

Drinking really fucks up my stomach, man. I wouldn't drink if you have stomach ulcers.

You should probably see a neurologist for your migraine headaches. There are a lot of prescription (non-addictive) medicines that prevent and treat migraines now. You may even need a brain MRI. Notice when you get the headaches: does anything trigger it? Do your headaches happen at a particular time of day? After you've eaten something? Chocolate is a big cause of headaches, for instance.

Also, please stop taking Aspirin and drinking, as both could make stomach ulcers worse and can even cause internal bleeding.

Lastly, if your blood pressure is super high, are you on any blood pressure medicines? Regularly taking those can reduce headache days as well, as can weight loss if you are overweight.if you need help paying for your medicines, let me know and I could look up some programs.

    • Well it's light sensitivity and if I miss meals or don't sleep enough. My eye doctor says nothin is wrong with my eyes though other than being extremely near sighted. Sometimes caffeine makes them go away but caffeine is present in most pain killers.
