Down-syndrome and be smart?

Theres this guy at work who looks like he has an extra chromosome. He looks really weird and makes weird facial expressions. But he actually seems quite normal socially. He sometimes seems abit immature and he doesnt drive. But he always holds a conversation well with groups, he jokes alot, and if he didn't have this weird look to him Id never think he had anything wrong with him.

Can you have down syndrome and be reasonably intelligent?

Down syndrome definitely shaves off some general iq. They arent going to be a genius but some can be within normal intelligence thresholds.

As someone who was a bit luckier with their messed up chromosome placement I do not envy their predicament. Common sense is good enough for the world. Definitely not going to be someone with a phd but the same can be said for me and a heck of a lot of marines.

You can have any disability and still be smart.

  • Ive just never witnessed it before. He is pretty witty but he does appear to have down syndrome. Everyone likes him and he gets by normally.

I can tell by the way you type, you are down syndrome.
