Does being fully independent make you happy?

Is it normal to try feeling happy all by myself? I try to look for friends but never find and it stops me from achieving anything. It feels like I don't have meaning. Are all happy and successful people fully satisfied with their own company or does everyone need a very close friend to live normally?

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

Pure independence is impossible, and not even natural considering that humans are social animals. Happiness comes from fulfillment, and here's the meaning of life: responsibility.

You have to be responsible for something or someone besides yourself.

That is an intelligent answer, but I don't understand how to apply it. I am always responsible for studying hard, giving my best, using time and resources the best way but I hate it and fail. What kind of responsibility will help me?

Being part of a team, especially when you're at the head of it, is a great responsibility to have. Whether it's a sports team or academic club, organizing stuff brings a lot of fulfillment.

And if you're a woman, biologically and psychologically, you'll want to have kids in a few years. Otherwise you'll make 'children' out of political causes/feminist issues/other people's business. Not a good way to go.
