Does anyone have good lunch ideas?

I know this is probably the wrong website to ask this but I was wondering if anyone on here has good lunch ideas because I keep on having the same thing over and over again to the point my taste in food is becoming bland like unseasoned food.

I am open into any suggestions you tell me.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

The other day I made honey ginger soy baked chicken thighs... it was very yummy.

You should definitely try making it then. I don't even care for chicken but it made me so happy to eat it that now I'm afraid to make it again and lose the magic! Haha

It says the sesame oil is optional but I used it and it's one of the flavors that made it delicious.

So true, this is the first time since I've had it that I used it successfully! I was thinking it had been a terrible purchase until I found out that the raw seed oil is for cooking, not seasoning salads like toasted sesame oil lol

Yeah toasted sesame oil is a flavorer, I should have specified. A lot of Japanese recipes yous (non toasted) sesame oil for tempura because of its high smoke point. It is expensive though and most prople in the states use grapeseed or peanut for high temp applications.

I always make a sandwich + a cut up apple for lunch. Easy and fast.

Homemade burrito - get some tortillas and aluminum foil from the store. Chicken or beef, sour cream, green onions, jalapenos, avocados, rice, beans, tomatoes, etc., wrap it all up.

Soup. Might sound boring but it's so diverse... You could have pretty much any kind.

I personally love beef pho, or if it's colder months I'll have some hearty pumpkin and coconut soup, with a crusty bread roll

I know the feel, througout my childhood I ate so much chicken, I just lost my taste for chicken as an adult, then I just relied on fish and stuffs, but eventually I regained my taste for chicken and have them but not as often so that i don't lose interest in them again. Try different things every day, and you won't get bored of what you eat..

I often cook something pretty easy and not too messy. Usually some form of pasta (just throw the pasta in boiling water for a few minutes and open a can of sauce, or make one of the boxed mixes), or I'll bake chicken or fish and some sort of vegetable in the oven (I like to do asparagus, Brussels sprouts, bell peppers, cauliflower, etc.), throw together a salad, or just have some yogurt or something if I'm not really hungry.

Sometimes I'll get a rotisserie chicken from Wal-Mart and have that, or I'll make a pizza. A tortilla makes a nice thin crust, and it turns out amazing if you prep the pan with olive oil, salt, and pepper. I just buy the pre-made pizza sauce, some shredded mozzarella, veggies, pepperoni, and seasonings (fresh basil is great, too). I've also used a premade pizza crust that was good if you like something thicker than the tortilla. They don't take long to bake usually.

Thom ka gha soup is absolutely magical and easy to make! Pho is great too, but I prefer just ordering pho rather than making it, it's pretty time-consuming.

Also, green salad (fresh spinach and cornsalad are the best) with sliced cherry tomatoes, chopped red and yellow bell pepper, sliced black olives and/or capers. For a dressing, mix balsamic vinegar and apple cider vinegar with a small amount of olive oil. Add black pepper to taste. No need to add salt.

The most expensive items here are the olive oil and the vinegars - everything else is like 1 euro a pack except the olives, so maybe switch these things out if you're low on cash.

That sounds good. I'm not the OP but I needed a fresh idea. I've had turkey on rye with mayo for the last 12 days straight.

Turkey's supposed to be a good, lean meat and I'd almost forgotten about rye as a way of not eating bread...

Ummm, sort of. Rye bread has barely enough sugar for the yeast to work, and the long rise time breaks down a fair bit of the gluten. It's a good choice if you're prediabetic like I am.

You may be referring to those rye crackers, which is yet another brilliant idea from you. Rye crackers, neufchâtel cheese, green olives with red pimento tail lights, thin sliced salmon and roast peppers. Cold crisp Pinot Grigio to sip. Nice touch; you're good.

Salami and cheese. Sometimes I roll em up and call them salami tacos. Or do it on wraps or sandwiches.

Pesto and chicken toastie like they used to sell in Costa, that’s my luxury lunch. Only really works if you’re having lunch at home though.

  • Meh. I'm pretty non adventurous with my lunches. Tuna and onion or egg and rice, if not just plain chicken. Tuna and onion is nice tho. Easy and fast.
