Do you ever feel like you were born in the wrong time period?.

Ever feel like you'd be more at home in a cookie cutter home of the 50s.
The free love movement of the 70s.
Maybe carrying a battle axe in a battle field of old.
How about exploring uncharted seas in the golden age?.
Or piloting a starship in a distant future?.

Maybe some of us weren't meant for this time born to early or to late.
Where should you be?.

I'm actually the partial cyborg emperor of the Xupiczyy league of intelligent preserved and canned peaches from the year 2736. I'm only here now because of a temporal anomaly created by one of our experimental new weapons against our rival empire, the pickled carrots of Dykaragnor.

I belong in the age of chivalrous knights and depraved sellswords; crossing steel with my adversaries to test our fortitude and might.

I'd like anytime after the invention of toilet paper and deodorant. Although, I suppose I could always invent it.

I'm black, so I think I lucked out with being born in this time period, and the future is too unknown. Based off the present, the future isn't looking too great. No, I belong right here.

In other news, what's up with the rampant downvotes?

I'm a firm believer in reincarnation, and I believe when you have a strong liking for a past era, it may have been the one in which you spent your past life. I'm obsessed with swing music, old soul music, 40s/50s fashion, and girls in pinup is the sexiest thing ever.

I belong through the looking glass or down the rabbit hole.

The future might be pretty cool too, Penny Robinson from lost in Space was another one of my heros.

  • After the last couple arguments I've had, I believe many persons here belong in the Victorian or Quaker eras.

If I would be happier in the past, it would be in a time and place more distant than that. Maybe a pre-Western contact aboriginal society, possibly in North America. I feel a little bit disingenuous saying that, because I don't know much about any of those different peoples beyond stereotypes about peace and respect and freedom.

I could go even further than that, to a theoretical society which existed before recorded history which had no authority or social hierarchy.

I'm with bugs, though. Even the best of past had a lot of rubbish. I'd be even happier living in a distant future which embodied the values of peace and love and anarchy, but had consciously adapted those values to reflect of the lessons of the past (including our own present).

Far in the future when people have hopefully found a way to remove pollution, fix poverty, maybe even create/substitute resources that were normally unrenewable.
Far enough that people have realized that racism, sexism, etc. are ridiculous.
By then, we'd also have cheap supercomputers and endless Shrek sequels. Just picture that.

You actually think all of that could happen? Your optimism is astounding.

'Hopefully'. I'm actually horribly pessimistic...I'm sure the earth will be nuked out long before then. Even if it wasn't, people will never learn from their mistakes. We have all that discrimination and pollution to this day, humans will just find new ways to be awful to one another and to destroy the ground under their feet.

I'm sure we'll at least have the Shrek sequels, though.

I think I belong in any time period in the past before teenagers thought it was cool to be drug addicts and sluts. I hate my own generation.

try living in the puritan times! they considered alcohol and sex a sin (and I'm sure drugs as well)

in all seriousness, people have always been doing drugs and having sex parties, you just don't hear about it as much in times between the 1890s-1960s, cause people like to pretend they were straight edge when in public.

shoot, some ancient greeks were fond of participating in drunken orgies, especially. those who belonged to the "cult of dionysis", named for the greek god of wine.

I'm with konfuzedonee. I believe in reincarnation. I think even young souls by now have had many, many lives. I feel that connections you feel to any time period allude to how important, traumatic or how big of a lesson you had in that lifetime was. We don't get to remember while we're here, but our soul knows.

80's. The clothes and hair would go with the clothes and hair I wish to wear now. Or I guess it would be nice to be a housewife in the 50's.

I dunno, it would suck to be alive in almost any time period before this one. This about all the modern conveniences we take for granted that wouldn't be available.
