Do you believe in population control?

If you do, what do you propose that we do in order to reduce our HUGE 7 Billon+ population and make life more sustainable and secure for future generations?

I support legalising, normalising and distributing cheap and effective contraception to every corner of the world, and educating people in the importance of using it. I also support taking steps to actively increase the quality of life and decrease the infant mortality rates of the poorest countries, since people are more likely to have more children in those conditions.

What I don't support is one-child policies or eugenics or anything invasive, at least unless we have no other option.

This is a NWO scheme, also on the georgia guidestones. This is an excuse for martial law and then genocide. There is a distinct reason that at this point post 2012, tha time foreseen by not only the Mayans but by the Ancient Egyptians and many others ALL say DEC 2012 as an important time. It obviously wasn't doomsday.. That was another agenda I won't get into here. The reason the world population is so large is because we all chose to be born in this time of ridding the world of the evil and starting the golden age as forseen by so many different ancient cultures around the world.

Thus far the creation of the AIDS virus has been "successfully" reducing that number. Something a cynic would contemplate, humans as biological systems are doomed when an unprecedented agent (a virus, a bacteria) threatens, consumes, and ultimately deteriorates their biological integrity and composition, their "life" if you will.

As previously suggested, contraception and educational measures for the sake of humanity's ethical well being are but an ideal assessment. It far underestimates the systematic tradition of religion/cultures..etc.

This is a very vague answer anyone interested in continuing this discussion, ask for details/examples!

I made a grocery bag that supported population control in the 8th grade... Why? I don't know. Part of me believes in it even though it sounds totally immoral. Maybe like dom explained, there are moral ways to control population. On the other hand, maybe people should just be left to die naturally - no organ transplants, breathing machines or anything. Of course, if someone i love could live longer i would be biased. So... I'm simply undecided.

The way we could do it is by providing education and family planning assistance and improving conditions in the poorest nations (which almost always have the highest birth rates).

Wealthy, healthy and educated populations tend to have lower birth rates. So you'll find once the poorest nations 'catch up', the birth rate will decrease, and the human population growth rate will plateau or start to shrink.

We actually have enough food to feed every person on the planet right now. It's not so much an issue of resources, as it is distribution. That's not to say a smaller human population wouldn't be easier to manage, though.

The 'overpopulation' thing is subjective; it's not a fact that the world is overpopulated with humans. It's merely opinion.

Oh and if you were wondering how common it is to ask this kind of thing on IIN:
