Current world problems invade my dreams

I keep having realistic dreams related to what’s going on in the world. It truely scares me because the dreams feel real. As if I’m experiencing them.

I had a dream this night of a school shooting, it’s quite long but here’s how it went. I cannot recall everything but I can recall most of it.

I had a dream about a school shooting
We were told there was a shooter in the building, there was a person on the intercom who said “Lockdown, this is not a drill.” all the kids tried escaping the building and fleeing
elsewhere but the principal didn’t allow it. So I hid under a table with my friend, we were huddled together. We thought that we were in a safe spot, underneath the principals desk. We were next to an exit door. The rest of the room was envisioned as a library. To my horror the shooter entered the room through the exit that was near by us. They (there were two shooters) came to us and shot my friend. I started crying and I pleaded for them to not shoot me. They did a deal that if they didn’t shoot me the all the other students in the school would die. But if they did them everybody would be spared. Without thinking I begged to not be shot. I can’t remember if they shot the all the other students or not.

I only remember being put into a cell with the two shooters, one of them seemed to disappear possibly by death. I talked with the second shooter, I pretended to be friendly in fear that he would injure me if I wasn’t.

I’m curious as to what this dream meant? And if it was normal to dream about disturbing problems that happen in our day to day world.
