Checkout divider

At the grocery store do you put the checkout divider down for the person behind you?

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • Yes, and it really annoys me when the person in front of me doesn't do it.

I think you're fine without if you're not getting much stuff, but if you've got a full food shop on there you need the dividers.

  • Yes, I don't want our stuff being mixed up.

  • I pull it out in front of my goods. The it's up to the person behind me to seperate their stuff.

  • Yes, because I don't want the cashier to start scanning someone else's stuff on my bill and then have to waste time explaining what's mine and waiting for the cashier to uncheck stuff. Put the damn divider at the end of your groceries.

The checkout divider marks the end of your groceries, so it's not really about being polite, but being efficient and quick. Often when the person in front of me forgets to put the checkout divider, I put it. It's for speeding up the shopping process a little bit.

  • Only if my groceries are too close to his and could be confused.

  • No because people don’t tend to put their groceries right up against yours. I think the last time I noticed a person using one was over 20 years ago.
