Can girls with thick thighs be attractive?

I'm a US size 14 (UK 16, EU 44) and I have hated my thighs my entire adult life. When I gain weight, the fat goes to them first and when I lose weight, it leaves them last. When I've tried regular running, biking and walking, they've just gained muscle.

I've resigned myself to never being one of those women with elegant, gazelle-like legs who look good in colourful leggings, light-coloured jeans or patterned pantyhose.

I can’t imagine anyone finding legs like this attractive but my mom always says they look 'fine'. Fine, as in 'not like a beached whale'? Fine, as in 'not too big to be made to look smaller with a careful choice of outfit'? Fine, as in 'averagely ugly'?

Is there anyone who positively likes girls with large thighs?

Stop comparing yourself to women who are naturally a different body type to you. Yes, we can lose or gain either fat or muscle to sculpt our bodies, but ultimately you have to work with the frame that you were born with.

Forget those girls with the skinny thighs in the colourful leggings and start idolising the women who look like you. There are plenty of very attractive celebrities who naturally have shapely thighs.

    Oh fuck yes!

I'm not one of those guys who's into really chubby women (although I don't see anything wrong with either the women or the guys who like them), but I've never found thin women attractive either. Size 14 is the sweet-spot for me.

I've never found skinny legs sexy at all. Ever since I was a kid, I've always had a big thing for shapely calves and rounded thighs, and I was into thick butts long before they became fashionable. I figured out a while ago that women with that body shape look lushly feminine and sensual to me, while my instinctive reaction to thin women is to see them as people who are into denying themselves bodily pleasures such as eating and sex. I know that's an unjustified stereotype, but that's my gut reaction.

A few years back when I was single, I met a woman via an online dating website. We exchanged messages and phone calls for a few weeks, but the only photos of her that she sent me were modest and didn't show much of her body. I arranged to fly to her town to meet her, and she met me at the airport wearing a blouse and some snug-fitting trousers. It was only then that I realised she had impressive breasts, but what really got me where it counts were her thighs. As soon as we got in her car, I couldn't resist reaching over and grabbing her nearest thigh, and I heard myself telling her that I loved them. It sounded crass as hell, but it was honest and completely uncalculated, and she just sort of melted right in front of my eyes. She was naked about two minutes after we got to her house, and I saw that she had a good figure as far as tummy flab and weight elsewhere was concerned, but she was one of those women like you who put weight on at her thighs. I later figured out that, like you, she was very unhappy with how her thighs looked, but I thought her whole body was sexy as fuck.

Everyone has their own particular tastes and some guys are so insecure that they decide that "sexy" for them is whatever the media or someone else tells them is sexy, but I'm sure that I'm not unique, and there are plenty of guys out there who are into thighs with some meat on them.

A huge part of looking sexy to someone else is how you feel about yourself. If you continue to feel ashamed of your thighs and stay fixated on the idea that they can't be attractive to any man, then you're going to be constantly giving off a negative vibe about your own body. As a rule, us guys aren't all that sensitive to non-verbal signals, but if you come across as someone who believes she looks like crap or even "averagely ugly" - as you say - then you're going to come across as not being a fun person to be with, and the only guys attracted to angsty, negative women are guys with problems of their own.

Oh hun I am sure you are beautiful. People have a tendency to compare themselves constantly to others for the sake of beauty.

Oh I don't look as good as...
My legs are way bigger than..

But...you aren't them. Be the best you, not a knock-off of someone else. I used to be a US14/16 and I've received plenty of compliments...yes most of them revolving around sex but I can assure you some people really like it!

I hear you. I'm not a girl but all the weight I gain goes to my thighs too. I started doing intense leg exercises to lose the weight around my thighs.
Your rest of the body(face, overall figure etc) will also determine your attractiveness.

Jogging helps that problem a lot

  • I always thought thick thighs were pretty hot. I’m short and my thighs are kinda thick for me and although my jeans will always rip from my thighs I still think they may be one of my best features even hear it sometimes. Beats having skinny legs. Even chicken legs on a guy isn’t very pleasant.

Real beauty is on the inside.
Take care of your body, yes.
But don't let your looks define who you are.
    Looks fade.

Either lose weight or quit complaining. The first paragraph sounds like a lot of fatlogic. I doubt you had no excess body fat and just muscle and still had disproportionately huge body-builder thighs from running, unless you have elephantiasis or something. But this is probably just a fetish post so whatever.

    • So is it a self-hating fatty justifying herself with fatlogic, or a fat-loving fetishist? Or a fatty who fetishizes the fat in others that she hates in herself??

Or... could it just be a regular, fat, averagely ugly woman who feels insecure about her legs?

Don't worry about Duft. I think s/he's basically a reasonable person, but this place can make you very cynical about posts.

I know it's possible you are a troll - it always is here - but your comment about your mother's views made your post seem credible to me.

Or you could just be someone who is aware that this is a VERY popular preference nowadays (see your poll results, plus your choice of euphemism: "thick") and you're trying to cash in on that sweet validation?

Get lost, Duft. I don't have the energy or the emotional stamina to deal with you patiently or graciously tonight. It's me, AspiringRuth (again) - I wrote in US English to mask that it was me, but I'll unveil for heartless creeps who repeatedly kick people when they're down and laying bare their vulnerabilities.

I wrote this my post and I hate my thighs and always have, since I was 9 years old, back in '99 when 'heroin chic' was in. All the pretty girls running in the playground with their graceful legs while I lolloped along like a clumsy elephant. I keenly felt that I didn't deserve to be beautiful.

Hey Ruth. Your North American English is smoother than a gravy sandwich. Good on ya, love.

Seriously, if it bothers you that much you need to put your health first. Why is that so difficult?

Or you can just accept it - who cares? Like I said, look at the overwhelmingly positive response you got from this.

So nowadays you and everyone else is putting down the ectomorphs or "heroin chic" as you call it, yeah that's so much nicer.

Idk how big you're talking but medium thighs are good. "Kelly Divine" has about as big of thighs as you can get without looking fat. You should compare to her. Btw you can lose weight. Its actually not hard if you are really deadset on it. You could start by intermittent fasting. Just dont eat until after 3 pm evertyday. After the first few days it gets easy. You wont even be hungry. The weight will fall off. I lost 40 pounds in like 3 months doing this along with keto. I lost the weight eating bacon and beef every meal with lota of olive oil (just can't eat any carbs)
