Are you logical, or open minded?

So, are you open minded or logical?

If you are logical you tend to think things through, and only make decisions and opinions based on facts

However if you are more open minded, you tend to dream more and are open to things like heaven/hell/religion/believe in the supernatural.

You don't seem to know what logical and open-minded mean.

For example, if I have a problem that I can't solve myself, I can ask my friends for their opinion on the matter. That's both open-minded and logical. If I don't have all the needed information myself, it's logical to be open-minded and ask others.

The terms you were looking for were "close-minded" and "open-minded".

Opposite of logical is illogical (or more broadly irrational)

I agree with misca. Logic isn't any form of opposing force to open-mindedness.

Logic is just forming conclusions based upon facts and things that you can observe, no matter what conclusions these would be.

Being open-minded is simply keeping an open view of the world and being able to accept other ideas.

So being logical requires you to be open-minded but being open-minded does not actually require logic.

Based on the description on this thread open-minded means gullible and/or stupid.

And based on people who I have met who say to me things like "you're not open-minded" simply because I don't agree with, or like a particular thing, I have to agree with your description.

I have an open mind about being logical and logical to know to have an open mind.

I consider myself very open-minded. I believe people should be free to make their own choices if they don't harm others (religion, sexual orientation, politics, opinions & personal choices) and I prefer to look at things on a case-by-base basis, looking to individual stories and specific scenarios rather than blanketing things with more broad, black and white beliefs.

However, I don't see how this is opposite to logic. I like logic and both use and respect its application. Maybe I don't quite understand the question correctly, because I don't believe in heaven, hell, religion, or supernatural events?

  • Open-mindedness does not exist, it's paradoxical.

  • People on here tend to think being offended equals to being correct...

Some people also think that being offended equals to being incorrect. Isn't that funny?

It is possible to be both. It is a big, to have an open mind, but a little logic is necessary.

I think it's both illogical and close-minded to say that the two are mutually exclusive. I think it's logical to be open-minded.

You can form logical opinions and still be open-minded to the views and input of people who have reached different logical opinions. That is what I am.

Same as everyone; a bit of both. I can work things out from pure thought (requiring no observation) but I can also based my assumption on what I observe.

  • There is no such thing as logic. And if there is, then define it.

I'm a little bit of both. I can be logical if I have to be, but that doesn't stop me from having an open mind.
