Are plaid skirts inappropriate for a kids party?

My nephew is turning two. The theme is a Blues Clues party. My sister said that everyone attending has to wear a Blues Clues top. I bought a Blues Clues tank top from the Hot Topic website and I'm going to pair it with a blue plaid skirt, blue and black striped knee length socks, arm warmers, and a choker. The skirt is above the knee, but it's not one of those ickily short skirts that barely cover anything. Someone at work said a plaid skirt is inappropriate for a kids party. Is it?

People are so weird now they think EVERYTHING is inappropriate and sexual, and the ones saying that is inappropriate are the weird ones thinking constantly about sexualising children and obsessing about it.

Hi Tinybird. It says you replied to my comment on the IIN People Have Multiple Accounts post. The IIN post seems to have disappeared from the site. What did you say?

I said we're different people, he's a dude and I'm a girl and I've seen what he looks like on instagram. However I do have another account called "Tornadogirl" that I made because I thought this one was shadowbanned once.

I used to wear plaid skirts all the time in high school. It's a cute look, never heard it being referred to as inappropiate... It's literally just a skirt?? Is it because it resembles american school costume skirts or something because those aren't inappropiate either you know... Sounds like someone has been watching too much porn.

Unless I’m missing something here that sounds fine. Maybe your colleague has just fried his brain with porn and thinks everything is sexual now?

    That outfit sounds just fine.

Stop worrying so much about what other people think - unless they are actually paying your bills.

it just sounds like a normal outfit. and your coworker is weird. as long as your reproductive organs/ass/boobs aren't visible i don't see a problem.
it's astounding how people find new ways to sexualize anything these days.

I don't think I've seen a skirt that covers up the boobs

A pair of short or pants may pair better for a kids party. Unless you're only planning on interacting more with the adults.

I don't think you're going to run, get on the floor, play, or interact with a bunch of 2 & 3 year olds in a skirt. If there are plenty of adults around they might enjoy it. Most of the other moms will just see it as trolling for guys especially if husband's are present or they'll see inexperience dealing with young children.

    Plaid's inappropriate everywhere.

Regarding the rest of the costume, I think it's kind of inappropriate, but I'm clearly outvoted. It's not about the skirt necessarily, but the socks, tank top, arm warmers, choker, all of it put together. It's thematically appropriate and definitely cute, but seems a little over-the-top for a 2-year-old's birthday party.

I don't know how the other commenters visualized those clothes and thought they formed a normal outfit, either. Maybe they only read the title? That's not a casually-hanging-around-with-friends outfit.

    It's a KID party. I don't think it's inappropriate.

Seems a little inappropriate but id have to see the outfit to say for sure. The tank top with it may be too much.
