After 17 years, how do you feel about 9-11?

Already 17 years and I wanted to hear your views/opinion about the event and the wars that followed. I know that there are some of you who were probably too young when it happenned.

I'm not american and I would really appreciate to hear how you still feel about it.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

I was 3. It seems to me the terrorists were successful. We willingly gave away our freedom in response.

I think it's ridiculous nationalism. It's sad that almost 3,000 people died. But guess what, more than that died because of the US's lame response to hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico and it's barely mentioned. The US has killed zillions of people in other countries and we don't mourn. The "war on terror" is a freaking joke, an excuse to remove freedoms from the citizens in the name of "protection" this country sucks so bad. The people are ignorant, brainwashed, and generally unwilling to think for themselves.

Wow, zillions? Good thing or I would be sharing a bathroom and shower with 100,000 people every morning.

It was nothing special. Had it happened in some other country no one would have given a damn.

I was not well when 9/11 happened. I do remember being asleep, and hearing the TV downstairs. I thought I was dreaming, but then when I woke up, and went downstairs I saw that it was real.

I was walking about four to six miles everyday, because I was dealing with a lot of serious anxiety, and I remember how eerie it was that it seemed that there were hardly any people driving on the road, and this was in the suburbs of Las Vegas!

I was in 8th grade when that happened and I was pretty apathetic about it. Other people seemed that way too. I still don't really care about it.

I was sleeping and got awoken by my girlfriend's phone call. She told me to run downstairs and watch the tv, that a plane hit one of the world trade centers. By the time I got downstairs and began watching with her on the phone I told her both buildings were hit. She told me only one, but I'll never forget saying "no, both are hit".

I sat there and watched and suddenly started getting calls from some friends and family. We all knew it was a terrorist attack. We knew other places mainly in Washington were going to get hit considering how they targeted the world trade center. Sure enough after talking with my Dad the pentagon got hit.

I've never felt so useless just sitting there watching my country get attacked. All innocent people. I remember watching the Spanish channel who also ran it all live and they were showing people jumping from the buildings. People hanging from the buildings on fire.

To all those who say it didn't matter to you, it wasn't a big deal, you're all pieces of shit. Lots of lives were lost and it wasn't just Americans. It wasn't just the victims, it was also their families and friends. People who simply went to work that day or happened to be on those planes.

Ask your parents or those a bit older than you who had to sit there and watch. Or better yet go meet a parent, a brother, a sister who lost someone there and tell them you don't give a fuck.
Listen to the phone calls from people stuck in the buildings who later died. Go on youtube and for once don't type in sucking cocks, type in people jumping from the world trade center. Watch how people were running for their lives when the buildings went down. Now imagine you or someone you loved there.

I would have gladly traded my sister-in-law for one of the people lost at the WTC.

        • I'd jump at the opportunity to trade my aunt and her whole family for several of those people.

At least they wouldn't become pesky houseguests.

Never had to suffer THAT with my SIL. Therefore, you can have the trade.
BTW, nothing is worse than bad house guests. I mean damn, it is like...
You lose your mind trying to deal with it.

        • But even your sister-in-law has people who loves her.

By the way how old were you in 2001?

          I was fourteen.

            I think I was 27.

You were just one year older than that 13 year old who is always commenting on youtube videos. You know the one, "I am 13 and I remember when Thriller first dropped" or some shit

            • No, I am not american and when it happened I was shocked but not because US was under attack but because you dont see planes crashing in building everyday. And after the events my father would watch all tv programs related to it and developed a strong hate towards muslims. I did not understand why people were blaming all muslims. I started to research about the USA and how we arrived at the 9/11 events and what I discovered made me sick about the USA government. I realised that the terrorists are sometimes not what the tv tells you. But I didn't want to include my opinion in the post so that people give their real opinions instead of reacting to mine.

Worst thing about it is still having to remove belt buckles and shoes at the airport. Very inconvenient.

I’m American, and I understand how and why the accepted date format changed in the U.S. but... I still agree with you, lol XD

But back to the original question in the post. I still cry when I see the video footage from that day. Maybe it’s because the US hadn't suffered a major attack on our soil since WWII, but the shock and horror of that day is deeply etched into our memories.

I feel that we have learned nothing from it. We are allies with over 70% of the worlds dictatorships. We claim to fight against terror and yet we arm and help Saudi Arabia. One of the biggest terror states in the world. There are more terrorist in the world than when we started. And we are so indoctrinated to believe that America is the best. That we don’t see that we are the bad guys in the world. We have learned nothing.

As someone who lost 3 friends that day I am amazed by all the ignorant and insensitive comments…you pissants are what’s wrong with this country and the world overall, some learn from history’s tragedies while others just make excuses to justify their agenda and stupidity.

Good thing it didn't happen in 2017 because BLM would have made it about them somehow.
I think that is when they were most active.

I don't really care. More time would have been spent with people thinking about, conversing about and acting on 9/11 then the combined time of the lives lost during it.
