It's nice that you mention Einstein, but String Theory is not his.
The key theorist behind early models was probably Gabriele Veneziano, for hadron physics, but were later adapted as a "theory of everything" by a number of theorists such as Pierre Ramond, Andre Neveu, John Schwarz and Joel Scherk. This occurred in the mid 1970s. Einstein died in 1955.
I believe that since space is infinite, that far far beyond the borders of our universe exist other universes, I do not believe however in parallel universes. I believe that beyond these borders exist many other universes unequivalent to our own and all in the same dimension. I view our universe as a mere galaxy with trillions of others out there.
Well, I don't actually know really, and don't think anyone actually does. I checked the second one (about two universes) because I believe the spirit world is a sort of paralell universe. But for all I know, there could be thousands of them. Sounds terribly complicated and I don't want to give myself a headache by dwelling on the concept for too long.
The preacher at the church I attend has expressed the belief that our planet is the only inhabitted one in the whole vast universe. I told him that that seemed like an awful waste of space to me. He bases his view on the Holy Bible, of course. I am a student of Oahspe, a new Bible, given to the world in 1882 via automatic writing. I also read "The Urantia Book", another New Age Bible, which I think was written during the 1930s. I have not told the preacher that though. He does know that I am at least a former New Ager. I am a metaphysical minister, myself.
