  • I reckon people get stressed out as xmas approaches: nothing to do with the weather because it's not winter here

    • You from the deep south? I love the way y'all say words like reckon. I also guessed you're from the south because you saying it's not winter like where you are.

        • Oh, I thought you may've been from Alabama or Mississippi. I've never been to Australia but like to go. I worked with a guy once who said that you all eat kangaroo steaks and koala meat down there. I told him I seriously doubt that, he didn't know what he was talking about half the time about anything.

          • A few of us do eat kangaroo and emu meat (I do occasionally) but I've never heard of anyone eating koala

            • Yes, I think I have heard somewhere of people eating kangaroo steaks, but I didn't think my friend was right on eating koalas. They're an endangered species now, aren't they? You guys call them koalas and not koala bears, right? I knew most Australians knew that calling them bears was incorrect, but I remember seeing a program once showing a sanctuary somewhere in Australia where they called it "koala bear park and sanctuary". I guess even some Australians have gotten that wrong.

              • I just googled up sanctuaries, parks, and zooz around Australia with koala bears, and couldn't find any with the word bear in it. There were a number of places that showed up that just said koala. Since it was over 10 years ago when I saw this documentary that showed the words koala bear in the name of the sanctuary, I'm assuming that since then, they've changed their name or just dropped the word bear from their park name due to criticism of them mistakingly calling them bears. Either that or that particular place closed down.
