Not only he should be grateful but also humble. Is very disrespectful of him to prend both trips are to be covered by you or your mom. He's not a child that can't travel alone.
But most importantly; how long have you known him...!? Do you really know his honest and true intentions...!? Is he worth all this nonsense...!? What does your mom has to say about all this...!?
