It's like blackmailing them.
If you be a good boy you'll live forever,if you don't you'll die.
Actually I think it gets even worse than that.
You are telling them what to choose based on your judgment.And as soon as they start doing something different from what they are being told,and notice it doesn't really hurt them,it will become a game.
So they will start taking risks without evaluating danger.And they will get hurt.Then you'll be the one feeling guilty.The thought of death or pain is the only deterrent making a kid take his chances after careful evaluation of the risk involved.Or decide not to take the risk,evaluate further,if there is time left,and eventually resolve themselves. For example.
They are being told that smoking is bad for their health.They know it's something they are not supposed to do in order to live "forever".(As long as possible) then they see another kid doing it and still looking good,and without a worry about "eternal life".So they start doing it thinking:if it doesn't harm him,why should it harm me?It's like telling to a child he has super powers and can fly.Then he ends up defenestrating himself.Just tell them the truth!Is that so hard? It's simple: Kids.
One day you will die.That day can be postponed or anticipated.You have to learn how to postpone it by any means necessary.Avoiding what can do you harm and doing what keeps you healthy,safe and in good shape. Then you start enumerating the good things and the bad things.. the things pushing them towards death,and those keeping them alive and doing well.For example:You take an orange and say;This orange contains vitamins C,It's good for you and prolongs your life. This is a cigarette.This cigarette is not good for you and shortens your lifespan. Then you keep teaching them daily.Adding the reasons why that particular thing is good or bad. While you are doing this,you can start teaching them some anatomy,this is a liver,it does this, those are the kidneys they do that,this is the heart and blabla. But sadly..I think now they like the thought of being "immortal" way too much to find that kind of activity interesting or funny.So,Your loss.
