  • I have acid reflux so I usually end up tasting whatever I eat more than once if you get my drift. I don't eat anything I don't like, nor do I eat to spare people's feelings, because whatever I eat it's always worse the second time around.

    • I very occasionally wake up with acid reflux and I absolutely HATE it!

I was taking medication for it until I read that it increases the risk of heart attack and two heart attacks are two too many. I mean the medication, not the reflux itself.

      • I just stopped taking acid reflux meds.( One can cause cancer, one heart attacks and one depletes your magnesium). I found if i dont drink coffee i dont get reflux anymore.

        • Having just had my morning mug of plunger free trade coffee, I can't contemplate giving it up for the sake of not having reflux a few times a year!

I suspect that I'm much more likely to experience reflux if I eat hard to digest food late in the day, especially if it's just before I go to bed, so I'm trying to break that habit.

    • I had acid reflux once and thought I was dying, I couldn’t imagine having it as a common occurrence

      • Yep, I woke up choking with reflux the other night, which combined with emphysema (exacerbated by bushfire smoke) felt as if I was going to die because I couldn't get my breath. It took a lot of effort to sit up and start breathing again.

        • Do you take anything for it?

          • I used to, I can't remember what the medication was, but it's something lots of people are prescribed. A couple of years ago research indicated people taking this medication who already had heart problems were more likely than not to die sooner, so I stopped taking it.
