Would you reset your life?

You're living in a sci-fi/mystery novel. The life you had so far came to an unfortunate end. But for the reasons unknown to you, the generic..err.. scientists, aliens, angels.. etc. offer you a resurrection.

Certain conditions apply:
1. You keep your current physical appearence.
2. You keep your memories and experiences.
3. If you suffered from any medical conditions and illnesses -you keep those too.

However:
1. You can choose a new name/citizenship/employment.
2. You can start with a basic capital and one new talent/skill. Although you'd have to give up one of your current skills.
the level of proficiency will be equal to the skill you give up.

(Ex. if you were an amazing musician and chose mathematics instead, you'll have a great potential as a mathematician.)

OR

You can just go back to your normal life. Any news or accounts of your death will be instantly forgotten.

Would you try the "new game"?

Yes, I would like to feel like a new person. 51
No, I've got too much to lose. 19
No, I'm afraid of big changes. 11
Yes, although people don't change, just the scenery. 9
No, since I won't/can't change myself, it's pointless. 20

I'd take my current life back. No point in resetting something already in progress, who knows how I'd turn out if I did everything over again?

If things like somewhere to live and a livelihood were taken account of, I may take the deal, yes. I've got nothing much worth losing.

Well, let's say that cash-wise you're set. You're not rich, but you have enough for the first time to organise your new life.

Livelihood -it's up to you, this trait or skill you choose might serve you in your new career..or might not. You're taking a chance here.

If I have enough money to be secure until I establish myself then, yes, I think I'm going to be one of the few people who take your opportunity. I'd like to give up anything I know about world capital cities and have those points transferred into beer-making skills (of which I have none).

Lol, beer-making skills? That's awesome. I don't drink booze, but can see how it can be wicked to become a brewer.

And yeah, looks like you're gonna be one of the few. Although I would do it too, instantly.

There's nothing wrong with my current life, and I enjoy it, but don't see any reasons not to try something else.

Yeah, that's pretty much my view on it too. My life isn't horrible but why not give something else a go? I very rarely drink beer now but I love the science of anything with yeast (I'm the same with bread-making) and I'd love to be good at it.

            Good question, by the way.

              Cheers,

I just read too much sci-fi, I guess. Can't help having these questions even in the real life :)

Oh, I can't cook anything for life of me... Maybe that's gonna be my chosen skill.

I would reset it. I would probably end up moving a lot as a kid but I would be doing a lot better in school.

  • I have a fantastic and interesting life right now with a whole lot of change in its 24 years. Would I change after I was resurrected and try something new? Maybe. Depends on where I was in life and how much I liked it at the time.

"1. You keep your current physical appearence."

Too bad. I would have reseted myself to be a woman.

I didn't read that, I'm just answering the title question. No, I wouldn't. I've been increasingly unhappy with my life as of late, but that only encourages me to change it. Everything in my past is over thankfully!! So I just take what I've learned from it. Hell no I would never go through that again xD My life is going to get good! I just have to push it in the right direction.

Considering the fact that I'm in a good place at the moment, I would continue my normal life.

As long as I can take away my felony charge for possession, I would try it. I was hoping you would said go back in time. If I could go back in time, it would be hard to make that choice because I love my current girlfriend so much and going to 12th grade to graduate and go to premed would possibly alter me ever meeting her. I think I would rather keep her, love over money really.

I would take my current life back.

I usually don't admit this to myself, but I have a husband that loves me very much and would be considerably hurt if I passed away. I also have some friends and family that would be considerably hurt and I think to just take a new life because I made a few mistakes, have terrible Math skills and was born to strange people would be very selfish of me considering that I have obligations in this life.

No. The stipulations are just... depressing. I've worked hard for my family and my talents and I just wouldn't have the heart to start those things over with a new family and skill. Bleh.

Unless I could keep my family and get rid of my debts, I don't see how this could change anything for the better.

    • Your debts are erased, obviously, since the "original you" is dead. Let's assume that even the mortgage and massive credit debts like that are completely written off. So your family keeps the house and the cars and etc. (If that's a concern).

But your family won't remember you.

Better or worse are very subjective -by choosing either you could, potentially, gain and lose a lot at the same time.
