Internet friend. Known them for three years. We talk pretty frequently. However, the last time I spoke to him was two weeks ago. Everything seemed to be going well. He started a new job so maybe he's just consumed by that.

Absolutely. I've known my best friend for over 40 years (we considered marriage twice; but, that did not work out; and I know her better than my wife - and my wife knows about her as well).
She lives 6 hours away. Sometimes we talk daily (or more often), sometimes its weeks apart, and a few times over the decades its been over a month apart.
Real friendships work on real time that match what the people need from each other... not artificial deadlines.
dude it's only been two weeks. I reach out to friends I haven't seen in years, just for shits. go for it.
Also this post reminded me to reach out to my childhood friend. I'm gonna go do that.
You have no reason to be concerned. 2 weeks is nothing and a new job can be very all-consuming.
I would definitely send them a message and ask them how it's all going.
