In the spring, I'm going to become a foster parent. I'm 36 years old.
I'm glad that I waited and spent my youth (and beauty) having a great time and traveling. Now I am ready to commit 100% of myself.
I've watched some of my friends have their children at a younger age. In the early days, it seemed like a struggle for them because they were trying to raise their babies and have adult fun too (like how their single friends are), but the two just don't mix that well. I've had more than a few of them admit they wished they had waited until their late twenties or early thirties to start their families. Although a few of the ones that weren't very good parents in general, still managed to party anyway.
When I tell people that (i want to be a foster-mum) in "real" life, they try to convince me to have biological children. Usually, only people who have actually been foster children in their youth are the ones that think it's a good idea.
Would you rather have kids when you're 20 or when you're 40?
