I'm alone here but someone I hate, I've hated people before and changed my mind, extreme circumstances might mean the rivalry will subside for survival, or it will make things worse but you won't know unless you try, if you're on your own that's it but with someone else there's at least a higher chance of at least survival if not begrudged chivalry, the person I constantly got into arguments with in high school actually turned out to be pretty cool once I got to know him in college
I'm with you on the hate. I don't really hate anyone so if I was stuck with someone who just annoyed me, it would still be a companion...someone to talk to and share survival duties with. And extreme situations like that tend to create a bond between people regardless of how you feel about them in a normal setting.

Exactly what I was thinking. Not always, but sometimes rivals can turn out to be the best of friends if you can settle your differences.
