Would you rather be severely anorexic or morbidly obese?

  • I still consider the causes of a lot of obesity to be psychological, what else could it be:S?

    • Yes, but I'm NOT talking about causes. I'm talking about consequences of eating disorders.

      • Whaaa? Then how is depression not psychological, that's often a consequence of obesity.

        • Not a consequence of the obesity directly, but a consequence of how they are percieved by society DUE TO the obesity. In most cases the eating doesn't cause the depression, society does.

I realise I am splitting hairs, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

          • I completely agree with that, but a obese person is more likely to become depressed because their lifestyle creates a hormonal imbalance, kinda like when you eat too much junk food and feel really groggy, just a lot worse.

            • Is that so? I've not actually heard that before. In that case, I might be willing to admit I might've misjudged this point a tad. I don't suppose you have an article of any kind (I'll probably comb the internet myself if you don't, so it's fine)?

              • Of course experiences in life can cause depression, but a lot of the time it's hormonal imbalances. Many people who lead great lives suffer from things like depression and bipolar etc, because their brain isn't "functioning" correctly.

Exercise and a good diet have been proven to reduce stress, create endorphins etc. Basically make people happy. The opposite has the opposite effect. I'll find an article if you want:) What part about what I said do I have to back up??
