I understand where you're coming from, but you obviously don't understand anything about cutting. MOST people don't it for attention or sympathy. In fact the ones who genuinely aren't doing it for attention try to hide it and would never let anyone know.
I guess I know a lot about this, and it's a very complicated situation, but most of them were abused as children and it's all they know. They feel worthless because that's what they were told their whole life. They don't know any different.
And being so harsh to someone who is already fighting a battle with themselves and suffering more that you could even imagine is just heartless.
I understand where you are coming from as well. Even though I am obviously not a cutter I do understand that it might come from abuse among other things.
Rest assured I was not raised with a silver spoon in my mouth and by two loving parents that cradled and lavished me with affection.
Different people have different levels of resilience I guess. I won't go into details but lets just say I grew up under extreme conditions myself and not much has happened to anyone who is still alive that has not happened to me. Not much...
I took the other path....the path that everything that did not kill me made me stronger. Perhaps on that path I lost my heart, but it was done out of self preservation.
Well I'm sorry you had to go through it as well, and I'm glad you're stronger than most people. But a little sensitivity would help. You said you suffered growing up, so you know how it feels. Why would you want to make anyone else feel like that? And I'm sure your insensitivity has done that to more people than you think. There's no need to create any more suffering in this already sad world. Let's all just try to be a little nicer =]
Would you leave your BF/GF if you found out they cut themselves?
