Actually, a transvestite is somebody who dresses as another gender for fun or because it's a fetish for them. The term you're thinking of is transsexual. A transvestite hasn't "transitioned" to another gender, they've just put on a wig and make-up for the night. BIG difference, as one is a hobby and the other is based on a serious mental disorder: gender dysphoria. Hopefully it's not too late to edit your post.
