Would you get upset if someone has taken over a month to repay you $50

So I paid for a hotel and a friend agreed to pay for half. They gave me $25 over a month ago, but their second payment has taken over a month and I’ve heard from them they can get it this paycheck. I asked again and it seemed to offend them.

I wouldn't get wound up about it, but then $50 is less than 2% of my monthly income. For someone on a tight budget, losing $50 can be a huge thing.

I also think that if you loan someone money, you need to do so with the attitude that you won't ever get it back. If you can't afford to lose it, don't loan it.

Seems to me the best you can do is learn from this, and never loan money again. Or at least never loan money to that person again.

Guy should pay you back. I mean come on... It's 50 bucks. It's not like you helped the guy finance a car, or something... Who doesn't have 50 bucks? Confront the guy and tell him to man up and do what's right.

Too bad if this person is offended because you asked for your own money back.

I haven't been in a position to loan money to anyone for many years and there are still a few people who didn't pay back loans, but I was an idiot to loan money to them in the first place. I've received a few loans from wealthier friends, but always put something in writing detailing how I'm going to pay it back and kept up the instalments faithfully, because friendship is more important than money any day.

I wouldn't be asking for the loan to be repaid: I suggest a calm firm statement along the lines of "I need you to pay me back that $50 when you get paid" and don't loan to that person ever again.

Yes because excuses are like assholes, everyone has them and they all stink.

There are many coercive methods you could take that would not only get you your $50 back but will discourage anyone else from taking longer than appropriate to pay you back.

Yes I would be pissed but usually if I lend people money I don't 100% expect them to pay me back. If they do then great I'll lend them money again anytime. If not then they have burned their bridge with me. Don't ruin a friendship over 50 bucks but don't give money to someone who can't or won't pay it back.
