Would you be mad?

Let's say you were in this situation...

You were in an accident and was sent to a hospital. You thank the people who brought you to the hospital. You don't want to bother your friends and family (you don't want them to come and visit you). You were hoping to tell them not to come after they come and visit the first time, but you then realize they didn't come at all. Would you be mad?

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • I'd have to know why they didn't visit me before I could be mad at them.

  • In America the first they'd do is say "FUCKKK!!!! WHERE'S THE INSURANCE POLICY!?!"

America please start providing free healthcare for every citizen,

    Regards,

    Europe.

    • As an American, I'd probably be like "Oh FUCK no, you are NOT taking me to the hospital. I can't afford that shit! Just stick a tampon in the bullet wound, it'll be fine."

    • Ditto from Australia even though our present "liberal" government is trying to dismantle the health care system for low income people.

The system here is far from perfect, but definitely better than in the US, which isn't hard to do. I don't understand how the most powerful and surely the richest country in the world can't look after its most vulnerable citizens

  • I'd be more worried about why they haven't came.

  • They probably didn't come because, like you said, you don't want to bother them. Therefore, they don't even know about it.

  • I wouldn't be angry, but I'd question how much they cared about me.

    • Yep, but the hospital is the one that contacts the family, then the family contacts you, saying they are too tired to come.

  • be careful what you wish for

  • Do they know you are in the hospital you didn't mention anywhere that they knew you were in the hospital.

  • I would be mad that they didn't even bother to come even if I had asked them not to. If I really care about somebody I'm coming to see them out of caring if they're okay or not. Even if they had asked me to stay away I would have at least shown up once.

  • I don't know, If my injury was severe enough to put me in the hospital I would spend more time on thinking about that and then how I was going to function with the injury. I dont really rely on the good intentions of anybody

  • no I wouldn't be. Are you? If you didn't want them to come in the first place it would be silly to be upset that they didn't.

  • If i landed myself in the hospital I would hate it if my family saw me in that state. I have this thing where i have to be seen in decent condition. I don't trust anyone enough to see me cry, have a panic attack, throw up or see me laying down with a breathing tube in my nose. I would be so mad at myself for getting in that situation. I am seen as a follower but I lead. The people I am around don't know it. they think they make the calls. no, thats me. I decide which hall we take to class, i decide if we change lunch tables, i decide if we go to to things. they just simply ask me and we go with my answer :/ I am a backseat driver in life. I need to never loose my image.

  • thats what always happens if you want it to happen like that then its okay but if others do it then you mind it...

  • Even if I didn't want them there, it would be nice if they bothered to show up. Although, considering the way my parents usually are when that kind of thing happens, it would take a LOT to keep them from coming and I'd be more worried about what's going on than whether they cared.

  • This is something that I've often stopped to ponder. I would prefer if they didn't know and wouldn't come. I don't like the majority of them and I don't want to be bothered by them. If the whole lot of them came it would turn into a pathetic and sappy event where religion would no doubt be brought up. If they did show up, I probably call for security. Sure, a part of me might be lonely, but I could always hope that someone I did like came to visit me.

  • Well not wanting to be a bother is one thing. None of them actually even bothering another. So you'd have to chew the latter point over - kind of like eating-crow with the relief of not being a bother.
