Would you be jealous if your in laws were..

Would you be jealous if your in-laws were better looking than you and richer than you?

Let's say your in laws who are your partners half siblings are naturally better looking (good genetics) and they are rich because their father gave them millions each so they don't have to work and can do whatever they want. They're also self centered. Would you be jealous of them?

I don’t get jealous easily, especially because of money. Every individual has their own challenges.

Why would I be jealous of self-centered dimwits that are only richer than me because of daddy's money?

If they were rich because they were smart or extra driven to succeed then I'd be jealous. Any asshole can get lucky, doesn't mean I want to be them though

Thats almost the case. My dad remarried a wealthy enough family full of some above average in appearance people. Not quite hot but certainly not mild either. It doesn't bother me though.

Um no - I would count my blessings to be family to people who could help me out financially if I found myself in trouble one day.

My lifestyle and habits are adapted to my finances. The occasional windfall would be nice, but I wouldn't know what to do with millions, and if I didn't have to work and could do whatever I wanted, I would probably end up losing a sense of usefulness and purpose pretty quickly.

Honestly, yeah. I have cousins who are better-looking and richer than me. My in-laws aren't, but my brother's wife is the best girl. If she was also rich, yeah, I'd be super jealous.

It's not like I can do anything about it, though. I just have to try and find a girl like that (I'm still single; I wouldn't divorce my wife just because my brother found someone richer and better-looking, just want everyone to know that). Self-betterment n' all that.

It sounds like they don't have good character and aren't accomplished (they were given the money and winning the genetic lottery is simply a matter of luck), so no. Besides, comparison is the thief of joy, and doing your best and being happy with who you are is much more important than worrying about others. The way I see it, if others don't value me or value people like that over me, that is their loss and problem.

I think being envious is natural
The sort of "life is easier for them" or "they were fed by a silver spoon"
Try to remember you're living your own unique human experience with it's own ups, downs and meanings.

No I believe that type of thinking is a losers way of thinking. Im happy for people who are rich. Im on my own journey and if all goes well I'll be rich like them in a decade.

I'm just thinking of the last time I was in China. It was 2015 and I remember being surprised at how many couples I saw with 2 kids. When I asked about it, I was even more surprised to hear how long the option to have more than one child had been a thing

Ahhh yeah I know my wife had told me there were plenty of exceptions, a popular one being for if your first child was a female. I believe there was a shift from 1 to 2 children “permitted”, I’m not sure of differences between regions. There’s also the difference between actual hard laws with legal repercussions, and patriotic suggestions

I know in more rural areas there was almost always a trend of having more children (seems to be a worldwide trend tbh, urban folk don’t usually have as many kids)

Informers can be a bit lazy when it comes to explaining policies of ‘foreign’ nations, they usually try to just broad brush paint laws in black and white. And “controversial countries” usually get it pretty bad.
