        • You and I both love our puns but I think if we got into the Punic Wars, people would get fed up. Best to save them for special occasions!

          • You're right. We're too healthy for a Cold War but we are well-mannered enough to conduct a civil war.

            • Do you know what? I just read your reply and I literally clapped my hands together in glee. That was perfect. Absolutely perfect. I'm too tired, jaded, and not myself to return service but I sense you and I will return again to our dark game.

              • If the whole IIN community were to meet up, I think there will be a lot of sore foreheads on many people if we were to decide who shall be crowned the Prince of Puns

        • I always wonder whether it's a milder version of the psychology of hackers, which I've read a reasonable amount about and have dealt with first hand. It's curious.

          • do you have a link to that ive never thought about that but i suppose they are quite similar they both seek to ruin other people work or bring them down i think this is because of their own inability to create invent and design and id say it does a wee bit for their self esteem, ( because of the attention ) however it also makes me wonder if this helps them emotionally is it such a bad thing (though i would prefer they just get councilling or find something else more creative and constructive tbh, i also liked some of the other theories on the site, we need to welcome trollers and trap them and turn them into part of the comunity :)

            • Some of the hacker stuff I didn't read on the net. It was something about someone I knew and tried to take under my wing (I failed, although I tried very hard indeed), but because it's about an individual I can't really go into it too much.

In general, though, I think there's a part of men's personalities that seeks power and control and when we fail in our own eyes, we seek to subvert and get it whatever way we can. Trolling, hacking and rape have the same root to me. It's about power.

              • yes that wouldnt be fair to them (the latter you spoke of), i understand the concept of what you are saying too they need that sense of power and dominance but do not know any other way in wich to obtain it, trollers like to pick people apart push their buttons to feel like they have accomplished some for of dominance,

I wouldn't mind delving deeper into the psychology of why they need to obtain this power and control the way that they do all forms and including the latter and the ones unmentioned, id assume it has to do with things such as abuse, parents bullying , mental illness, education, social aspects that could be controlled in a perfect society,

I have one last query that would be is did we as society fail these people, would early intervention help these people?
